Tailgate Badge

I ordered a '01 tailgate badge for my '00 HD. Has anyone installed one? Any problems or suggestions? Remember someone using a fender badge and heating it up and bending it. Think us '00 owners got the shaft for not puttin' one on the tail. Had to supply a vin# to order the thing. Went with dealer purchase so I know it will be authentic. Why pay close to dealer price for knock off badge?? Maybe I'm just a fool. Might be same thing, huh? Gotta spend it somehow! I just picture some little crackhead stealin' our badges and resellin' them to us...Peace

I did that install, very easy to do. Get yourself some fishing line, saw thru the 3m tape, remove glue with goo gone, install new badge.. Holes are all ready there. I didn't need to bend badge to install..

I also ordered the badge from 2001 tailgate, on Tuesday. Parts guy confirmed that it was a different p/n than the fender badge on the 2000. So no bending should be required. Don't know the leadtime to get the part. Would be great if it got here by friday.
I think it finishes off the rear end of the truck.

Question

Hey Harleyrules, do you just peel off the backing on this thing and slap it on the truck? No need for any other type of adhesive I take it. Seems like it needs something more. Doing the install this weekend, appreciate the help...

Just peel off the backing and stick it on, but first make sure you cleaned the area and removed all the wax before install..

Question ???

How much is everyone paying for those rear HD emblems? Are they fairly reasonably priced?

You can get them from www.karkraft.com or from ebay. I got 2 from ebay for 140.00 and sold one for 100.00 so total cost was 40.00 for mine : ))

Question Another question...

Hey, harleyrules, did you get the side fender emblems from eBay or did you get the rear emblem? And, is there really any difference between them?

I called Fordspartsonline and with their "best" price for the rear emblem, they wanted $97 plus shipping for the 2001 rear emblem. (Not only that, but they need the VIN number, too, which is OK with me as it keeps the clones down.)

Here's my tale for my tailgate badge.

June 23-Ordered the rear tailgate badge for a 2001 HD
July 3- parts guy let's me know that he needs a vin number to order part. (Only find this out by calling him to inquire if the part had come in. He gives some lame excuse about calling but there never was a message from him. He thinks it will be about 10 more day.)
Check with him every friday, part is now on back-order.
This continued until 2 days ago. Fed up with lack of action from parts guy, and NO information I called Ford 800 #. Spoke to lady there, we spent 30 minutes on the phone. They are now trying to expedite part from the badge vendor. She spoke with 4 different people, (including parts guy @ dealer & a regional person) she has seemed to have lit a fire under them.
Part is not here as yet, the saga continues.

To Be Continued

Also as have been told, no facts so I don't know if it is true but tailgate p/n is different than the fender #.
Also I appear to have had it stuck me because my price from dealer with tax is $139

I used the fender emblem. Had no problem with the install. I don't know whether there is a difference in them or not..

Hi there!
My hubby tells me that if I put the emblem on the tailgate, that it will decrease the value of my truck. He says it won't be stock. Any responses to that?
Cindy.

You can always put the original badge back on when you want to sell the truck. It is not irreversible.

2000F150HD,

The fender badge worked great....I don't really think there is any difference between the 2 IMO
