Post Can you light up the tires?

Just wondering if anyone can light up there tires from a stop. I haven't put on any of my mods yet. But off the line can any one peel there tires??? I was exspecting mine to be able to give out a little screech when I slammed it to the floor.

I took my 2000HD to the track when it was stock. It would easily spin the tires from a stop.

Really, I don't think I've been able to even spin mine once enough to notice. I thinking there may be something wrong then. Cause it seems quick but not that quick. I raced a Mercedies SUV. It was puilling onto the highway and we were goin about 80 km and I punched it. He just wooped my ***. By about 3 cars. IS that a bad sign??? I was thinking that it may not be able to spin off the line because I lowered it, could that be???

Eh..lowering it shouldnt matter from a stop.

I dunno about racing things on the interstate in your truck. These things have the aerodynamics of a brick at high speed...and without the power of the lightning supercharger..your going to get beat alot

Try at least getting a Cold Air Induction kit..that is by far the best bang for your buck in mods.

I have a '01 HDS and I don't think I ever peeled off, dead stop or otherwise. Once I think I got some wheel spin, but I was power braking(?), basically standing on the brake pedal while giving it some gas, and then punching it, and letting off the brake.

I have the air induction kit and the chip and all that, I'm waiting to put those in untill the weekend. I know about the are chance of beating somethin on the highway is pretty slim, I'm still pretty chocked about just getting wooped though. I also tryed the brake stand and maybe brought it up to about 2500-3000 rpm before lettin off the brake and slammin it. Still no squell. I can't wait for the air induction to go in. Maybe it will change the situation a bit. Thanks for your help everyone.

Woah...You should be able to powerbrake just about anything. You get some sort of special traction control feature on your truck?

Ya I know. It should have been enough. When I get out of work today. I'll try and light it up again doing a brake stand. We will see what happens. I don't want to push it to hard, cause i just hate doing brake stands. But when i did the first time it should have been enough for those tires to spin. I may have a traction option for are winters but nothing I was told about. I'll see how performance improves after i get all the mods on this weekend.

Unhappy

Hey LowRiderHD2000 I think that we have identical trucks or something because mine will not even chirp the tires on slick pavement when I put it to the floor from a stop. I just put the Air Force 1 kit on last weekend and I can feel more power and it sounds great whenever you get on it (except for the screeching belt!) I also "had" a Superchip that I had technical difficulties with that gave it a little more power and firmer shifts but still couldn't get a chirp out of the tires. My Superchip is supposed to be back today so I'm looking forward to getting that back in! I guess it's just the weight of our trucks or something.

umm...thats REALLY not good for an automatic transmission.

However they are referring to the ability to keep the car in gear..floor it..and smoke the tires.

Cool

With my old tires both would spin very easily. The new tires I'll get 15 to 20ft of black stripes and a squack going into 2nd.Only after the mods would it do this, before them I would mat it and it would laugh at me!

I can't light up the tires on my 00 HD. With the limited slip differential and the 9" wide meats it won't happen unless you can squeeze out 300+ HP from that 5.4 Triton.
