Phone # for Leer??
Finally got the cover. Leer did not send the lock, but the dealership found that the lock is the same as the one on covers for the Sport Track. The guys had to do some grinding on the mounting plate to make it fit. Top looks great and seals very good.
Mine sticks in the same spot just when it is being closed. Caseyk did you get your endgate sealed when you put your cover on, if you did what did you use. You also said you put on Ford alloy rims, what size rims and what size tires. I have a set of 265/70R17 tires from my last 2wd truck. They fit fine on the old truck, but I am not sure about the HD because it is lowered 1inch
Hey Sask: the stickiness on left may be a live with it for a while problem to see if improves with use before fretting over; didn't go with sealeant, again will see what result are as we go. The winter tires I bought were on standard F150 alum rims, clad with General tires 255/??/??--same size as the spare we got under the bed. Altho higher profile than our orig, found them surprisingly good on dry and snow driving but did put aprox 400 lb bagged concrete mix in back. I bought 4 rims and tires for $800 Cnd but current price from same guy is about $1200. Only caution with older rims is that July '00 F150's went to 14mm from 12mm lugs so your old rims may not fit--otherwise clearance etc, since same size as our spare, no problem.
Finally got the o.k. on my lid!! Getting it installed Thurs. 21st. One of the guys from the parts counter got the name and number of the Leer dealer doing the install. He did the homework for me, all I did was make one call to check on when and what time. Very pleased with customer service I've gotten at this dealership. Wish you all had gotten the same. Driving the truck over myself to the Leer dealer...just don't trust them with that part. Good luck to the rest of you still waiting...Peace
Truck delivered 12/23/00, Leer ordered 2nd week of January, 01 - It's in (was at the Leer dealer for the last month!!) and should be installed Wednesday 6/20 - Dealer still doesn't know who the Leer rep is supposed to deal with . Leer dealer says they need the truck 24 hrs?????? - anyone else?? also they will only deal with the Blue Oval - not me, dealer says he would rather I take it in than him - doesn't want to be responsible for it sitting around or worse parked outside all night - what a circle jerk!!

can understand your frustration on the run around--since mine was going directly to a dealer, not a Leer installer, I prepped them by leaving a copy of my certif at the end of April. My parts guy was very helpful in looking after me on a number of other items; then I had to steer them thru the procedure with Ford--contact division rep etc. Sure enuf, cover arrives, I get a phone call, and a week later it gets installed in about 1.5 hours. Great looking, and perfect fit (Sask --the sticking left corner sticks nada with use)Only problem is loose sealer flap on front. It pays to try to make a friend at the dealership.
It's scheduled for 9:00AM tomorrow - the parts manager will meet me down there since the Leer dealer isn't supposed to deal with the customer - seems a bit strange!! - he still maintains that he is entitled to have the truck from noon to noon - a 24 hr period!! Gonna try to get it back tomorrow b4 they close since he can't insure that it will be stored inside overnight - Not a very good neighborhood! I sure wish I could take it to another Leer rep!!

I agree, it does pay to make a friend at the dealer. Mine never came with the lock, so they even borrowed one from a cover that was suppose to go on a sport track. The installer had to grind down the lock plate a bit, but a perfect fit. It sounds like it is better not to have a Leer installer in the area. It took them 3 hours, but they did have to borrow the lock.

Huey: my install dealer was not my purchase dealer
Truck was bought in London last Sept at Ford SVT dealer that was changing hands--they had the truck since end of July and only put it in showroom a few days before I found it and found out they were interested in inventory reduction, gave them a cash price all in slightly below what you've posted and did the deal in one phone call and 2 emails in about 10 min. Servicing dealer and tonneau installer is in Owen Sound since much closer to where the truck is--these guys really seem to care and more than happy to order a few extras for the HD so getting the tonneau sent to them was a no brainer; helps when the body shop mgr is also a L owner and into trucks. Can't comment on the sales staff but everytime I've been in, the service, parts, and body people have been very helpful. I work in the city so this has been a breath of fresh air after dealing with big city dealerships for over 30 years on both purchases and service.

yeah i know some got deals on a limited model hd. should never have happened but good for you. fords marketing sucks on this one. most of us lined up at list price for the original 2000 trucks but got screwed by ford marketing tripling production and then giving away the leftovers. anyway i love my truck and thats all history. think that today $39900 (cdn.)is a good price for the 2000 which is the only one that may be desirable as a collector. (except maybe the 2003 if ford does it right). the dealer that has it told me today that his leer hd cap has been shipped. guess i better start yelling again.

I'd get onto Ford if you haven't heard about your cover. Try Cust Assist 800-565-3673 and quote your certif #--they're pretty good about getting an answer quickly altho it may not be the one you want to hear. And of course, fax the F150 brand manager at 905-670-1798 with the same info. If you have your lock, your cover probably has been shipped--question is where. On the purchase thing: the SVT dealer would not deal on the L pricing, they had 4, even tho the production numbers for '00 are close to the HD. I saved $800 off sticker on my '99 SVT Contour 2.5 years ago but that took a couple of hours of haggling--very tiring but got good financing direct from Ford. It was the only colour I wanted; next build was 5 months down the road but it is one of 2760 built that year. When you're shopping, sometimes you get lucky finding a dealer who will deal--I did on the HD since three other dealers would not budge off sticker...sun and the moon and the stars being in the right place I guess.
Have a few changes from last post. I had to cancel my appointment on the 21st. Called today to reschedule and was told I had to go thru the dealer?! Told the Leer dealer I wanted to bring the truck in myself as I really didn't want some kid driving it there. He told me I had to take it up with the Ford dealer. Funny how things change depending on who you talk to. Didn't push too hard with the Leer guy cuz I don't want to get on the s**t list. I wonder what would have happened if I had kept the first appointment? Oh well....
