Add-ons to the HD!?!?
I've added a few different things to the Harley and was just wondering what everyone else thought about add-ons. What's your favorite thing so far and what do you think looks good. I'm still contrversial about the L lights but thought the pic of HarleyGuy's truck looked nice from the back with the L tailights. I have the smoke covers for front and back and am satisfied with them right now and think that the headlight covers look really nice. Anyways just wondering you guys thoughts about all the different ways you can go with the Harley and what you all have done, also curious about the exhaust b/c I'm still wanting my truck louder!

The keyless door entry is a great add-on, at least for me. I had disabled the auto-lock on shift into gear feature because I just knew I'd end up locking the keys in. Now with the keyless entry system, that worry is gone and I can control things without the keys entirely. (Plus, it looks cool.)

I'm not too crazy about getting too far from stock since I think the truck ('00 model)is pretty stunning on its own with the tonneau now on, so the only things added are more practical such as the HD logoed bedliner, the HD logoed hood deflector, along with window deflectors to keep the wet out.
What I'll do: K&N filter, maybe a bit more lowering once I see Low's pix
--thinking 1"
more on front and 3" on rear, then maybe Toyo 20" tires for crisper handling. I like the clear L rear lites but don't think I'd touch the fronts--smoked covers are a bit ricy to me; and maybe a decal for the tonneau, silver, no colour. Will leave the exhaust for the time being--I like the quiet drive at cruising with a bit of noise on take off we already have. Basically, I'd be interested in adding a Q factor--stealth mods that don't detract from the overall concept but will give a bit of added oomph when you want it. Much like my SVT Contour--looks pretty ordinary but corners and drives with a lot of high rollers without giving itself away.
But if the L engine gets into an '02 or 03 edition, I will probably bite

Oh yeah, no question about it! If the Harley gets supercharged for '02 or '03, then I'll be all over it like the black paint on my truck.
Haha, to pull up next to a some ricey import and blast off while carrying a load of lumber from Home Depot, the red flag stapled on the end merrily waving good-bye...
Um, anyway...
So far, I just have K&N Gen II FIPK. I haven't installed it yet, and waiting for the weekend to do so. I also added Class III hitch from UHaul, but it's not a performance mod. (although it allows the truck to "perform" an additional function, so I guess it is...)
I plan on adding a new muffler to add a bit more growl, and dropping the rear slightly. I doubt I'd do much more than that. Maybe a Superchip after all's done, but I'm kinda enjoying (comparatively!) the 87 octane fuel right now.
Tonneau cover would be nice, but I'd much rather have a "trunk" than the cover. (my reason at here)
------------------
Early 90's Ford Probe -- mods: stereo stolen to reduce total weight. Speed gain negligible, unfortunately.
Late 80's Honda Spree scooter -- mods: plastic milk crate tied to the back to carry one and a half bags of grocery. Custom-made cafeteria tray-like hard plastic tonneau cover to keep the grocery bags dry in rain.
'89 Honda CBR600F1 -- mods: Newtonian Physics mod, courtesy of 30 mph collision with a VW Rabbit. Suitably chagrined.
'92 Toyota 4Runner -- mods: Rugged Exterior Package, of mud and occasional dings and dents. Free of charge.
'95 Mustang GT Conv. -- mods: hey, no joking around this one. This was my baby.
'99 Lexus RX300 -- mods: Good looking girlfriend mod. Costs continues to add up. Honk and throw money.
'01 F150 Harley. mods: Beautiful gf mod climbed off Lexus and climbed on F150. Darn! (j/k, honey
) Dealer mod: an ugly dealer plate holder in front. Gotta... get it... OFF!

Just like the bikes you can not keep these trucks stock. You always have to add parts and play around with ideas. I have added a K&N Gen II kit, put on chrome trim around the fenders, the Leer Lowrider cover, the Harley front-end cover, and alot of polish. I would like to find a bra type cover for the front bumper and lower valance to avoid rock chips. I have not been able to find one.
Bell Tech 3/4 lowering kit, Holley S/C, Flowmaster 50 (but left the tail pipe set up alone)Alpine DVD set up with VCR for Grandkids. Had a Harley bug deflector, but took it off-to much hassle in cleaning underneath. I agree that the truck appearance is great and I do not want to change it to much. The one item I really like is the Harley-F150 logo on the tailgate, which I did after reading posts on this page. My cover should be here by June 25, and that is all I am changing.

Hey HD2NV89, how do you like that Holley "Thunder" supercharger? Man that must be awesome I wish I had the money to do that!!! And another thing, how do you like the Flowmaster 50, I'm thinking about a 40 but not sure if I should keep the tips on or just let it run straight out of the Flowmaster with "no" tips.

Sask-Harley,
Do you have any pics of your truck with the chrome around the fenders? I have been thinking about doing the same mod but I wasn't sure how it would look. If you can email them to me that would be great. Thanks,

HarleyRules,
I don't have any pictures yet, I just got a digital camera so they will be here soon. The chrome looks great with the wheels and nerf bar. If you are going to put the trim on spend the extra dollars and get the good stuff, it pays for itself in the end.

Don't mean to seem ignorant, but am interested in putting in a keyless system in my 00 HD. Is all the wiring except to the system itself in place allready?

Have an all Alpine system in my 00 HD also, but just couldn't afford the Navigation System yet. They want an additional $2200.00 for this alone. How do you like the system (Navigation) and does this price seem in line with what it cost you? Do you have any pics of the dash? Have been looking at some, but can't decide yet.

HD2NV89, Yes, the wiring is already there for the remote entry keypad. It was an easy install. Fun, too.
Take a look at this thread for the original post on the keypad: https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000443.html
