Question HD Floormat Question

I purchased some Ford OEM Harley-Davidson floormats on eBay in Medium Dark Graphite (EAD) expecting them to match the dark interior of the truck. These are the carpeted mats with the HD logo in orange facing out towards the doors.

They are a lot closer to gray than they are to the very dark carpeting. I believe I'd have been happier with a darker mat. Does anyone know if Ford offers a darker version of this mat or should I be happy with the contrasting color?

Hey HarleyGuy

I was just at my dealer to pick up a pair, that I ordered, when the parts guy told me they where tan. I did not take them and asked for some black ones. Apparently the color that is closest to black is called Ebony.

I got a pair a couple of weeks ago and they are closer to grey than 'ebony' Still nice and set off the interior with the coloured Harley logo. Only complaint is much cheaper all weather black mats went behind the pedals for the driver side, these aren't that deep so you're liable to get slop on the carpet. My solution was to keep the cheap all weather behind the HD mat and the floor clip still fits. I don't think they come in deep black as only ebony was mentioned in my catalogue.

I saw the Ford mats, they don't even have an offering for the back seats though. I picked up some black rubber mats at AutoZone with the same Harley logo. I got 4 and did some slight trimming to fit the back seats as well. I like the looks of them better the way the logo sits. Also, the carpeted mats just seem to hang on to all the dirt and stuff so easy, hard to keep looking nice. These rubber mats are so much easier to keep clean, and a lot cheaper to.

The Ford Harley mats are not cut correct to fit as well as the original plain black carpeted mats. If you use the mat holder you will see that the top of the Harley logo mat does not cover the same amount of surface area, as does the original.

I found this out after purchasing the mats.

Agreed that the fit was not quite right on which I decided to keep my black cheap mats behind--but these mats do make a statement when you open the door!

Question

I noticed that the mats didn't fit quite as well below the accelerator pedal, too. But, I really like them, as casey k, says they make a statement.

What is a good source for these? I got the one's on eBay for $39/set shipped which was a great price. The mats at FordPartsOnline are around $65 plus shipping.

Have decided to go ahead and order the Ebony HD mats for the truck. Will have to sell the ones that are the wrong color on eBay or somewhere.

Now, what is the next mod? Maybe L headlights and corners. Seems to be the thing to do!

Just a moment ago, the new Ebony (read the same color as the oem carpeting!!!) HD floormats were brought by UPS. They look great and match perfectly.

Was planning on leaving the original mats in below these because, as mentioned above, the new HD mats don't cover the area under the gas pedal entirely. Surprise, surprise -- They are the same shape and size as the original mats and do cover fairly well. They are larger than the first set which I just sold on eBay.

You say you got these on e-Bay and they are about the same size as the originals?

Where did you get them on e-Bay?

Go for the six pack: fronts, sides and rears (lights). The fronts and sides look great; but very few people notice. The rears, well...they are noticed and everyone has an opinion...I love the look on my lowered truck

Nope, I sold the gray mats that did not match on eBay after I was dissatisfied with them.

I got these ebony colored mats directly from Ford. They are the exact same size as the mats that came with the truck. The gray ones were smaller on the driver's side.

nice pix on the mats--I went for the all weather ribbed type rather than carpet so the vinyl colour is more grey than black--don't mind the look tho since mud and suck stayes off the carpet.

Any better all-weather rubber ones?

Or would you guys just suggest getting weathertech ones?

Later,
Ian
