Post First Problem!

Okay, so the honeymoon is over, and a brief one it has turned out to be, 5 days and 330 miles... Granted, the truck isn't going to explode any moment now or anything like that, but it is annoying beyond words...

It just started tonight. I noticed that the seatbelt warning light stayed on after I buckled the seatbelt. I have never noticed that before, and I thought perhaps it stayed on for a while just to remind people that you should always buckle the seatbelt or something like that... And indeed, after a while the seatbelt light went off, and I assumed all was well. Oh boy, was I ever wrong. About 5 seconds after the light went off, the seatbelt light started blinking again, and the truck started emitting this incredibly annoying loud dinging sound! This continued throughout my drive home, staying off a minute, and then blinking and dinging for 10 seconds or so. I can't explain to you how pissed off tihs made me! I tried everything, buckling and unbuckling the seatbelt, adjusting the seat, yanking on the seatbelt, etc. Nothing helped. damn thing continued to blink and ding.

I think, oviously, something is wrong. Maybe seatbelt buckle sensor (if there is such a thing) is broken, and not sensing that the seatbelt is properly buckled in. I leafed through the owner's manual, and found that you can turn the seatbelt reminder off. I went through the process several times, but when it got to the steps where I have to buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt in succession, it never seem to register those steps.

I am very much annoyed. For me, this incessant dinging noise practically makes the truck undrivable. I can't go a mile without wanting to punch through the dash and physically demolish that blinking light. I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow, and see what they can do. I may in the meantime try and reset the computer and see if that helps. I don't really know how to do that though, although someone said that disengaging positive terminal from the battery will cut the juice and reset the computer. If anyone can help me in reseting the computer, please reply. Do you think that'll help? Has anyone had a similar problem?

Cool

Hey, things do break and when they do it can be irritating. But, it's not worth getting all in a tizzy over, either. Take it in under the warranty and get it repaired.

Hopefully, it will be your only problem! Personally, I have had zero problems on both my late model F-150s and neither has ever seen the dealer for a single flaw or for ever breaking. I'm hoping very hard that my good luck continues.

I've got through 1600 miles now, 1 problem, the HD badge on the drivers seat came off. Got it fixed (1/2 hour at an upholstery shop) and back on the road. ***** happens once in a while, lets just hope its a few small lumps and not a big pile.

chaean, you did ask about resetting the computer and you are correct that disconnecting the battery along with turning the lights on for 5 minutes while the battery is disconnected will reset it. (You need to turn the lights on after the battery is disconnected to drain the capacitors, etc.) Don't think that will fix it, but it might be worth a try!
