Hey HarleyRules,

Have you noticed a difference in the ride or handling after installing the shackels?

Got any pictures. I measured mine and 2" in the rear would make the wheel gap exactly the same front and rear. If I ever load or pull a trailer it would be tail draggin, unless I drop the front some as well. Starts to get more complicated. Not sure what I want to do yet.

Hauling your bike wont make any difference. The rear will not drop any lower then before. The shackles do not lower your load carrying abilities. No pics as of yet. Sorry

Please excuse my ignorance, but I've been wanting to lower my truck and have seen things costing as much as $1500. Are you saying using ONLY these shackles, I can lower the truck? Also, can the same be done on the front? I too haul my bike in the bed and will try to put my wifes in as well. Total about 900lbs. This weight winn not have any ill effects? And finally, how would the warranty be affected? BTW, the link goes to Godfather's Pizza :-) Thanks in advance.

Hi Badgene,

Okay, Here is the scoup.. I did lowering shackles to the rear leaf springs. They lowered the rear 2 inches so the back was even with the front. I got DJM SHACKLES from Godfather customs 1-800-231-1101 I don't recall the part number at this time. But they will be able to give it to you. Hope this helps

Shakles will only lower the rear, not front. It shouldn't hurt the warranty unless you started eating u-joints or something, then they might try and blame the change of angle of the drive shaft or something. With 900lbs of bike in the back on a 2" lowered rear you'd definately be tail draggin. Your springs are still the same so the only limitation will be that you might contact the bump stop on the rear axle and frame sooner thant if it was still stock. I won't even consider trying to put one of my big bikes in the back of my truck, to damn far off the ground. I'll trailer if I have to.

Aprreciate the info. Here's another question. If I do go with the shackles for the rear, what can I do with the front? Or should I just leave it be? I'm not looking for the typical lowrider, slammed look, just a lower profile.

Gene

PS Since 900 lbs may be a bit much, my wife better be prepared to putt around behind :-)

I did the So-Cal thing: The kit came with front coils, Moog front alignment kit, 4 shocks, rear shackle kit, and a rear helper springs.
Drops the truck front and rear while maintaining the original load carrying capacity. Shackles alone will decrease your load carrying capability...do it right the first time. Cost $745 + delivery. All quality components. Shipped within a week. Put it in over the weekend.

No affiliation. Just a happy customer.

I also used the a Kit pretty close to the so-cal, worked out to about $1400 cdn. Loks and rides great. Also got the kit quick and was an easy install. Very pleased with the look. Not to low, just enough to fill the gap around the tires.

Lowrider--talked to my dealer about lowering and was quoted aprox $1k Cnd including labour. All Ford parts so no warranty hassels. How much are you now lower from stock, front and rear? And the kit includes new shocks--better or worse than the orig? Better handling? Does it still look like an Alberta truck or is it now more SoCal? Any pix you can share since I'm thinkin' Thanks.
