Post Can't fake a Harley F150

Hi Folks,

Not sure if this is true or not, but I just got back from picking up some items from my local Ford dealer. While I was there we talked a bit about the HD150's. During our talk he mentioned that in efforts to keep the HD's origianl, Ford would not sell the fender, and tail badges if you did not have proof of owning an original HD150. He said that Ford has instructed them to ask for a registration or something that has the trucks VIN. I wonder if there is any truth to that.

There have been a bunch of them available on eBay whether Ford sells them or not.

I called the Ford dealer I bought my HD from to order another emblem to put on the back tailgate, and was told I had to give them the VIN # before they would place the order. I know I have seen them for sale at other locations, but went along with the program. I also had my windshield cracked by a rock and am replacing it with a 01 windshield, since it has the HD logo's. imprinted.

That sure is a neat idea using the 01 windshield. Thats good thinking. I also had to prove ownership when I ordered my extra emblem. I kinda like the idea. It's good there doing stuff like that.

If you really need to imitate the truck that bad that you would stalk an owner till he parked somewhere and copy his vin...more power to you

Ya I agree, if that's what you have to do to copy a HD, go for it.

Im not saying thats what I would do, Im just saying if the dealer wants a vin so bad that its not hard to get one. I dont think you would have to "stalk" an owner, I know of at least 4 of them sitting in parking lots right now that are there every day (daily drivers)that i've noticed just from my daily travels, plus I know of 2 used ones sittin on used car lots that someone could just walk up to.. They arent as rare as you guys seem to think they are. At least not around kansas city
