Post HarleyGuy and others with FIPK

I'm about to buy the K&N FIPK. Only really half-heartedly considered one, but I'm getting it for a great price. My questions are: 1)How loud will it make the vehicle? I'm not real big on a whole lot of noise from my truck that isn't bass! 2)Any precautions to look out for, particularly in hotter climates like TX or AZ where I'm moving? 3)Anyone wanna sell me a cheap chip? 4)Any other tips or suggestions? Thanks in advance

Gene from TX, soon to be AZ

Thumbs up

Baddgene. You really need to get the FIPK and the chip, too. But, you asked about the FIPK.

It does make your engine slightly louder but not very noticeable under normal driving. But, when you give it WOT, the thing makes a good healthy roar not unlike one of the old muscle cars with a 4 barrel that made that same sort of roar when you stood on the throttle.

You will also gain around 15 HP with it. Not a big seat-of-the-pants kick, but enough that you should be able to tell a difference.

Definitely get it. You won't be sorry.

Cool

I forgot to mention, baddgene, if you are going to be driving in a really dusty area like AZ, and especially if you are going to drive during their monsoons, you might want to do the service procedure where you clean and re-oil the filter more frequently. It is an easy job to do, so not a huge consideration.

The K&N is worth it at any price, but if you're going to be driving in very dusty conditions you may want to consider a pre-filter from Outerwears. You'll love the sound and the extra power. www.outerwearsracing.com
