You Yankee's crack me up. You know down south here we have whole groups of pigeons just waiting on you to wash your vehicle. Kind of like the commercial that played a while back. Another problem seems to be with a large increase in 'crows' lately. They take over the tree tops right before dark and make some noise!
Only about 75 today but near 90 and sunny this weekend - Hello sunburn! YeeHaaaaa!

Post Well, I finally did it.

Well you guys,

I did it. After 4 months of not putting a .1 of a mile on my truck, I did it. I took her out yesterday after work, washed her down real nice (alot of built up dust and salt from bringing her home from the dealership). So, my odometer once read 56.6 miles, and now it reads 58.6 miles. (Believe me folks, I would have gone further, but a bird ***** on my windshied just as I got to the end of my street, I was soooooo pissed. So I came home and had to wash it off and by then, she had to go back in the garage.) LOL, I'm so pathetic.

Another interesting side note in the 'I learned the hard way file', never put up your kids Basketball board right over where you park the black vehicle! Someting about a round hoop of metal gives birds the sh$t$! I'm not talking drops either, I'm talking hit the top, run down the side, and puddle on the nerf bar!

ps: Then baked on by the sun!

Cool

Mike, you crack me up!!! LOL

I got my truck out for the first time since early December last weekend, too. Long winter, for sure. My snow cars are all that get out when the salt, ice and slush are on the roads. Least I didn't get pelted by birds.

Ignore that harleyrider fella, he always is rubbing in his southern exposure and nice weather! (Thanks, harleyrider, for the basketball net tip. I'm gonna put one up this spring for my daughter -- and me -- and I'll be sure not to park under it now!)

Got a question for you guys, why don't you drive your trucks in the winter.?

I got a 01 SVT Lightning, and I drive it all winter with no problems, I just make sure I was the salt of twice a week.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I don't drive in the winter because the truck is gorgeous, perfect with jet black and chrome and I get huge psychic enjoyment out of going out in the garage and enjoying the truck looking as if it is in a showroom.

The 20" chrome rims that are 9' across would be a real b!tch to keep sharp and clean as would be the paint, the engine, mats, etc. It's even nice to keep the fenderwells all spotless. (Hey, I am a perfectionist and proud of it!)

Living in the snow country here, it is much easier and more pleasant to have "snow cars" to drive in the winter and then bring out the special vehicles again when it the salt and slush is gone.

That's my 2 cents. Can't speak for anyone else.

HarleyGuy & BlackSVT,

You are right on the money Harleyguy. Why drive a cherry ride when you have a nice '91 S-10 "beater" to get all rusty? this truck's gonna last me a while, and as you all know, I'm not worried about NOT putting alot of miles on it.

Man, speaking of lousy weather! Today we had 81 mph winds (I have a weather station here at the house and the winds were verified by the National Weather Service) and it blew down a good section of my fence, took tons of shingles off the roof and trees and branches are all over.

Didn't get the HD truck or the scoots out today and the next several days are gonna be cleanup time. Spring is here, I guess! LOL!

(Looking at the Weather Channel, I'm not alone.)

HarleyGuy,

Thunderstorms here. Has been nice the last couple days though, so I can't complain. I expect the rain though. Turkey hunting just wouldn't be turkey hunting without having to wade through swamps and quagmire.
Good luck with the cleanup.

Well I drove mine all winter--not a lot but just to run it and use it. Put F150 alum rims with General Tires on for the winter and it was a pleasure just to get in it and drive. Did some minor hauling too. I bought it to drive it all year long regardless of our Ontario winters, did it on 'sensible' days. Putting the 20's back on this weekend--great ride winter or summer.

You sure you guys didn't buy a "garage trophy?" I hear that a lot from other Harley owners (notice I didn't say rider or biker). Buy a Harley, and it sits in the garage. Can't take it out if there are clouds out or temp gets below 60'.

Of course, I hate taking our SCrew out this time of year. Let it sit an hour and it looks like it's yellow instead of black (damn pollen!!!)

Good hint for my brethren up north(I'm just a yankee that moved south and took oer some good ol' boys job. I hear THAT all the time)

Get a lawn sprinkler, and sit it under the truck. Half hour for each end of the truck. Worked up north for the salt, didn't have any rust/cancer problems.

Enjoy those rides...both the truck and t 'scoot......Rube

Rube,

The bikes aren't even penned up in my garage. Had to rent some space at a storage place to keep them to make room for the truck.
Believe me, I was gonna take the truck out today - No Kidding. I came home on lunch hour (or lunch 2 hours), and put a nice coat of Mother's Step 2 polish on her. She looked so nice. (And yes, I kept my turkey gun loaded and leaning up against the lightpost for any bogies that tried to bomb my truck. (That trick works, try it. Anytime I have a loaded gun nearby, I NEVER see any wildlife!!! LOL) But I decided to park her back in the garage, and a good thing too!!! Had a tremendous thunderstorm about 1/2 hour after I got back to work and a nice size limb came down and hit my '91 S-10 in my usual parking spot. (Hit my rollbar, so no damage caused). But man, if that would've been my HD 150, I would STILL be crying!!!

I don't know about anyone else, but I rode 6100 miles on the Harley scoot last summer. That mileage was all local, too, Jut getting out and enjoying the d*mn thing.

As to the truck, I have several other cars and don't really want to mess up the gorgeous HD truck with everyday riding. We all have our preferences, and that is mine. When I do take it out, it's likely not for too long a drive (100 miles or so) and mainly just to cruise.

Hey, I bought a red F-150 back in March of 1996 when the new model F-150 was so new no one had them. That was fun, too. Cruised around mainly. Sold it with only 8K miles after 4 years to buy the Harley F-150. My trucks are for hauling stuff (very occasionally!) and just for the fun of seeing everyone's head turn in wonder! Great fun!
