Post rear end gears

i was wondering about the rear end gear situation. my 200 HD has the 3.55 are 3.73 faster??? do the perform better off the line?? or is performance of the 3.55 better. i dont plan on doing any major towing but i was wondering about performance diffrences. also is it possible to swap rear end gears??? how much would they cost???

Yes it will be better off the line, they can be swapped, usually about $400-$500 for the swap(have a professional do it). PCM already has the 3.73 info in it, dealer can reprogram the computer for them (anything steeper than a 3.73 needs a chip)

cool is the better performance worth the money?? how much is the diffrence? if i was going to switch would it be better to go a little further and get a chip? or would that hurt mileage and top end too much??? so i gues if the comp is programmed then you will have correct speedo. also is that legal will a ford dealer do it? has anyone on this forum performed the swap?
