Post superchip

I am thinking about buying a Superchip from Mike T. for my 2001 Harley-Davidson. Has anyone else bought one from this site? How did it effect how the truck performed? And was it easy to install? I just put the Flowmaster 40 series 2 chamber on this weekend and am going to install the Airaid induction tommorrow. I figured with the Superchip this truck should move pretty quick!
Thanks in advance
Mike H

Thumbs up

Hey Mike I think I met you at the SA rally on sunday when I showed up with my Harley SuperCrew. The superchip is a definate plus. I have one with the airforce 1 and the chip. The chip was put in before the intake. The chip alone made a big difference, it is noticeable in terms of bringing the motor to life. I got the flip chip. I did not instal myself and was glad I didn't because the local superchip dealer did it for me and in the process built up the connections with sodder (sp?)and that makes me more comfortable that there will be no problems with it in the future. Drop me a line if you have any other questions about it.

Did you know your truck has the Lightning suspension and the aluminum drive shaft. Very cool. I have had a chance to have mine on the road on business for several days this past 2 weeks and it keeps getting better. The ride of this truck is great and the suspension really helps if handle very well for such a big vehicle. Take care,

I have the chip in my 2000 Harley F150 and it did bring the motor to life and make a big improvement in the shifting of the transmission. The install was very easy, just follow the directions included with the chip. Total time took me 30 minutes from start to finish.
Good luck with your new ride : )

I have the Superchip in my '01 HD Screw. Like HarleySupercrew said, it brings the truck alive. I noticed a big change in the way the truck shifts. If you pay attention to your rpm gauge pre-chip, you'll notice that your truck, unless under serious load, will shift in the 3500 rpm range for the first 3 while accelerating. Post-chip, it will shift around 5000 rpm... lots more acceleration!!!

In addition, I've noticed a change in my gas mileage. It's not that much, but I keep track to the hundredth of a gallon per mile (err... mile per gallon). ;=)

Next, I'm going for a K&N FIPK. That should make things incrementally better!

Maybe yall have answered this question already but here it goes- Will shifting at 5000 RPM hurt the transmission or the gears???

Hi MikeH,

No, the rpms at which it shifts with the Superchip aren't going to hurt anything on that vehicle, as your rev limiter is still fully functional, so your engine cannot ever overspeed beyond it's design limitations.

The full-throttle upshifts are already set at anywhere from 5000-5250 rpm from the factory, and they are only increased by 150-200 rpm in the Superchip, as is required to give quickest acceleration.

Every once in awhile we'll find a vehicle that has a way-too-low full throttle upshift point from the factory, our 1994 Explorer was like that, and would upshift on the 2-3 full-throttle upshift at only 3200 rpm, instead of the 5200 rpm the rest were set at, an obvious mistake! So when we see that type of thing in a program, we'll go ahead and fix that as well, but in no case are the design limitations of the powertrain ever exceeded.

The Superchip will not cause any damage to your vehicle, nor will it shorten the service life of any component.

If you would like to go over this in detail, please feel free to give us a call, and we'll be happy to go over any concerns you may have, so you can give it some thought.
