Post Help for the new guy

Just picked up my new Y@K HD yesterday. You have been a big help already, learning & knowing all the xtras that are yet to come but I have some other questions for you.

Does everybody leave there mat in the bed? Are you afraid that it'll be stolen?
I read about the K&N air filter & there is also an Airaid, what are pro's & con's. Are they really easy to install?
My next concern is the wheels. Have there been many thefts? I'm thinking of locks on the whels. Which is better? Any p/n or description? One last thing. I saw somewhere that there were mats that had the Harley Davidson name on them. Anybody have them?

Thanks again, you have already helped me immeasurably.

Welcome aboard and congrats on your new HD truck.

My truck came with the HD rubber mat, hoever, I removed it and installed the HD bedliner. I use the mat for when I put things in the bed to keep from sliding.Ford sells wheel locks from McGard first item I installed. I have the K&N filter, but am going to switch to the air force one. I would recommend a superchip also. Makes truck shift much better.

Cool

Hi Kingie,

Good to have you with us!

*I put the McGuard wheel locks (available from your Ford dealer) on immediately to help protect those gorgeous wheels.

*My HD rubber mat is protected by a tonneau cover, so am not worried about theft, but otherwise, I would *not* leave it in there -- much too tempting and easy for someone to snag.

*Don't just go with the K&N filter, go with the FIPK (fuel injection performance kit) where it can really suck in the extra air. The FIPK will add roughly 12-14 HP. I went with the K&N FIPK and am really pleased with it. Great sound, looks super and the extra HP add a lot to the driving experience. Before doing the FIPK, though, do as harleyrules suggested and add the SuperChip. That little mod will give you around 26-28 more HP and a real good kick in the pants, but you will have to spend a little more for premium fuel. The FIPK and the SuperChip will put the truck up to roughly 300 HP and 400 pounds of torque. Very noticeable.

Both the SuperChip and K&N Kit are easy to install and have very good instructions. It's fun to work on the Harley truck anyhow. Congrats on your new toy!

You can pick up Harley floor mats at most Van and Truck specialty shops.

I got the mat with mine. I just keep my t-cover on and the tailgate locked. If someone wants it they will have to work for it. I don't keep it out of my sight for long anyway. Wheel locks are a good idea, one I'll look into soon. Good luck.
