Angry Dent and Run

Well, some (#$&$#&) who can’t drive put a dent in my passenger door. You can all imagine how pissed I am. I went to get a few estimates and I am looking at about $1000 CDN to get it fixed. It will of course never be the same again. The worst part is that I can’t even yell at anyone because this sub human did not hang around to claim responsibility.

Live goes on I guess.

Happy New Year everyone

Martin

They can fix and paint the door on a new vehicle so no one will ever know. Black clearcoat on the entire door panel with the stock paint. No fading on your truck yet.

Enough to p*ss anyone off, but could be a whole lot worse. (Easy for me to say.)

Give a report when you get it done and tell the people doing the repair that you don't want to bring it back over and over, because you want it perfect the first time.

Good luck!

That's ok.. I have a confession..

I managed to back into the front of a nissan 240sx the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.. It was a very dark parking lot and I didn't even see the car - not even when I hit it. I did do the correct thing and reported it to campus security, reported it to my ins and left a note - only to end up paying for front end damage that was already on the car (it had been stolen and recovered the week before).. But that's an issue I have to take up with the insurance co. I had and arguement with the insurance adjustor (my insurance co)about the pre-existing damage and he thought he'd "teach me a lesson" for my poor attitude. They were going to fix the car with used parts to keep the cost and impact to my insurance down but within 20 mins of my talking to him he changed his mind and totaled their car. This of course affected my insurance - not as much as he hoped since I've had no accidents in almost 20 years.. but the ins commissioner will be hearing about it.
Anyway - the bumper on the truck is a little skewed - not much - but I'll have to have my brother fix it and touch up the scratch on the bottom of the bumper.

It sucks though.. I'm completely paranoid about backing up now. I park to where I don't have to back out and chance backing into someone.. I've had higher trucks/broncos and didn't have any problems so I don't know why this one is more difficult.

Take care - I hope your truck gets fixed soon and "good as new" or better!

Unhappy

Well I took my Truck to a Ford dealership on Monday to have my door fixed. The service guy comes in and asks me how I got a crack in the front bumper. I go outside with him and sure enough there is a big rip right near the fog light on the same side where I have the dents. No idea when or how this happened. This was not there when I originally brought it to the dealer for an estimated on the doors. Holly ****y luck. Of course my insurance company won’t allow me to have this fixed on the same claim, so now I have to pay two deductibles which is $600. When I get the Truck back I think I will just put it in a glass enclosure and look at it :-).

On top of all off this the rental company gave me a Chevy Silverado.

Hope to get my Baby back soon.

It sure would be easy to damage the front dam as it hangs so low. Just pulling up to a parking lot divider or a curb could easily bump and crack it.

That being said, are you sure the damage wasn't caused in the original accident? I would think a good case could be made that it was. If you didn't hit any curbs, etc. with the front air dam, the damage might have been overlooked. I'd sure talk to my insurance company about it. Two deductibles is a bit hard to take.

insurance
its a claim they should pay per loss but not always seen that way. the loss should be that your getting your truck fixed and that sould be the loss. one deductable per repair.
the truck is in for a repair and there is a loss and you pay your payments to the insurance company so they should repair vehicle in a BEFORE LOSS condition and the before loss condition is no damage to the door or the front bumper. they should fix it all with only one deductable. thats the way I feel.

Talking

Well I got my Truck back. The door looks great. Can't tell anything was done. However I still don't have the bumper fixed, because the idiots at the inusrance company are screwing around. Last tweek one adjuster said as long as I aggree to pay a second deductable the bumber can get fixed on the same claim. Now all of a sudden they say it may have to go on a second claim. I wish they would just make up their minds and let me get on with my life. The dealer has the part ready and painted. It will only take them an hour to install. I hope to get it sorted out and done by the end of this week.

I am so happy to have my baby back.

Chevy Silverados suck.
