Value of truck now.....
The value of our Harley F-150s has been distroyed by FORD. Rebates, Dumping extra units at dealers, Letting dealers order wheels and Harley logos to make a plain F-150 look like a Harley F-150 and Making it where you can order a 2001 Harley F-150 before the 2000s came out. The way Ford held up orders created a false sence of value. Letting dealers sell the trucks for $4,000.00 over the sticker price created a false sence of value. The way I see it my truck, with 900 miles, may be worth $28,000.00 at best. Thank god I only paid sticker!!!!!
Thanks,
John

Hey John
I have too say I agree with all you have said and I hope I don't offend anyone who has modified their truck to look like a Harley Edition F-150 which is their right but I think we have too look at several other things here. First off I didn't by my truck for its value. I bought it because I love my truck. From the low profile tires to the leather and on to the sound and the feel of the truck. I know its a Harley Edition. You know its a Harley Edition and I think someone who makes theirs to look like one also knows that mine is truly what it is supposed to be. Do I find it offensive? I personally don't! I find it more to be that that want theirs to look like what I already have. Envy..? Maybe but whatever the reason people who know their trucks can tell the difference and I think we all know that. Like I said I know i'll get flamed over this post but thats just my opinion. As far as Ford is concerned I was quite angry myself to find out that there was a rebate and low finance program now in effect. Does it affect the monitery value of my truck yes. Do I care? Not when I get in it and start it up and drive down the road and watch all the people admiring it( Jaw dropping fool drool I call it) As far as the people who got theirs cheaper than others I say congrats to them. Thats how the world works unfortunatly. What can we learn from this? That big business will stick it to ya just to make a buck and that people will always want what you have. These are things I learned years ago and I am not really suprised. So what are we to do? Get in your truck, throw on your cool shades and smile as you drive on down the road.

Let me start out by saying "I'm sorry if this pisses you off"!
As long as Ford continues to make HD F150's your vehicle will not retain value. I hope you did not buy your truck to make a profit or even break even. Vehicles lose value! Harley's even lose value over time as much as people like to say they don't. So many people want them right now, because it's the 'in thing'. I have started to see people lower their prices to sell quickly because Harley has made it easier to order a new one and get it in a reasonable amount of time. As long as manufacturer's turn out new product line's every year, only nostalgia oriented people are going to appreciate what you have, and will always try to steal it from you.
I'm not trying to flame you, but you really aren't trying to convince us you bought that truck only to try and make money with it are you?
I have considered putting the fender emblems on my truck, but not to duplicate your truck, only to support my two favorite vehicles - FORD and HARLEY DAVIDSON!

Im looking at my harley truck like I did my 96 Impala SS.
First off...the first year will be the rarest..and for collectors...always the most valuable. Just like the 94 Impala SS.
The Harley Davidson package is strictly appearance...nothing different in the motor or frame or body for that matter. Just like the Impala SS was to the caprice. Did people try to take caprices and build them up to make them look like Impala SS's your darn right..did it **** me off? nope. As long as the individual isnt trying to pass their "fake" truck or car off to be an original then there is no problem.
The original year 2000 HD edition will always be the rarest....however...if the trend of the Impala SS fits this vehicle..it certainly will not be the best
I do rather like the idea that only the 2000 will be a supercab and every other year will be a SuperCrew

It isn't unusual for Ford to offer a cashback rebate in the 4th quarter of the year. (All the F-150s have the cashback deal.)
It's easy to look back with hindsight and be sorry you didn't wait until now to buy your HD truck, but who was to know if any trucks were still going to be available this late in the year?
Car sales are slowing as are other segments of the economy as the stock market has been in the doldrums, and that's probably the reason they are still around.

As far as selling parts for these trucks, the parts should be controlled the same as parts for special Harleys. I had to turn in the fuel tank name plate for my 1996 FLSTN before Harley would replace my tank after it got damaged. No plate no tank..... They would not even paint it the same colors of the FLSTN without the plate.
Good feed back on this subject. I just wanted to whine a little. I got the truck to ride around in with my shades on not to sell. But when the rebates hit I was upset.
Ride on yall!!!!!
P.S. No bed cover yet. Ford did fix my bad paint and acid rain damage.
Oh! I have a 2000 FXSTS Springer Softail for sale. 104 miles, Red and cleaner than new. Lots of extras.... $19,300.00
Thanks,
John

Like most, I bought the HD because I liked it--liked the looks and liked the concept. Regardless of how you cut it, it is a limited edition vehicle and that's part of the appeal. What it costs to an individual at the time the heart speaks seems to be at issue. The first dealer I tried to deal with in early Aug wanted full list--nice truck, but didn't think a dressed up F150 was worth it. Third week of Sept and the second dealer deals for the truck at about $3500 off sticker. I bought the truck in 10 minutes. I'm happy with the price I paid but I also wanted to buy that day in Aug at full sticker. I'm a procastinator. Even with F150 alum rims on for winter (I bought it, I'm using it) it looks like very few vehicles out there. It still draws glances. Check out how many 00 Lightnings are available as they start building the 01's in Jan. And tho the value may be on the downward trend now, I would agree that: first year and a Supercab will be worth something down the road. But I'm just gonna drive mine every chance I get and enjoy the ride regardless....ck

In August when I bought mine I visited some dealers who had marked up the Harley F150 as much as $5000 to $38,000. I just kept looking and finally found a reasonable dealer that sold me one for $27,500 including 6 disc changer and sliding rear glass. I bought the truck because I like it. I drive it because I like it. It is not an investment but a nice truck to me and it compliments my 1998 FXDWG quite well.

Since I've been researching price, I've found many paid over MSRP for the HD Edition. Those that paid MSRP were pleased that they got it "cheap", and if you bought one for much less than MSRP, you were the exception unless you knew someone. As of the first week in January, I'm finding that I can get one for about $27900.00 after a dealer's cash incentive of $500. The $1500 cashback offer supposedly ended on Dec. 31. (???)
Think with the weakening economy and the upcoming possible glut on expensive vehicles like the HD edition, there might be more price reductions.

The story of me buying my Harley F150 is kind of funny. I had been looking for a while at them but as I said the prices were ridiculous so I had given up on getting one. My son and I went to a dealer I had not visited in my search when he wanted to buy a new Ford Ranger. He found one he liked and I helped him buy it. Well as he was finishing his deal I was outside looking at a new Harley F150. The sales manager comes out to talk to me and says he would sell me one at a good deal since we had just bought a Ranger from them. I talked to him a little bit and he said the MSRP is 33,500 and he said they would sell it me for 30,000 even and 3.9 financing is available on it. So I bought the truck and drove away. About a week later they call me and say that I need to come talk with them. When I get there they tell me that 3.9 financing was not available and the best they have is 5.9. I told them the deal was at 3.9 and that they would have to make up the difference by lowering the price of truck. They agreed and the price of the truck was dropped to 27,500. It was a great dealership to deal with and I have sent them quite a bit of business since then so I know they are happy even though they did not make much on my Harley F150.

DAVENSA, you are in my old stompin' grounds!
I lived in SA for 13 years and have several buds at Red McCombs Ford.
They say there is no way they can meet the price of 25,888 to 26,000 even after sacrificing their dealer holdback. It is literally a net loss for the dealership at that price. They would like to sell out of the 2000 models as the 2001 is coming soon, though.
Which dealer in San Antonio has the price you mentioned? I have a friend there who is very interested if they will sell it to him at that price!!!

Thanks very much F150HD, for sharing your story!
Like my dealership, and I'm sure, like many others, your dealership really took good care of you. I've been impressed with my Ford service for quite a while.

This is my very first posting on this board and I personally think this is a great forum for us who appreciate our HD F150's. I apologize if this is lengthy but I have alot to discuss with my fellow F150 HD owners.
I am too am confused about my truck value. My truck now is in storage with approx 1100 Km or 650 miles from our CDN winters,eh.
I purchased it for approx $44,500 (US$29,600) with taxes and freight and undercoating, The base price was $36,800.00 (US$24,500). At the time of purchase I did some research and other dealers up here were not negotiating at all. The window sticker was the price. Remember one thing my US pals these were made up here in Oakville, Ont. CDA, approx. one hour away from me.
What made my final buying decsion was that Fords Credit CANADA offered 0.9% financing for the month of October only and I jumped on it. I proudly drove my new HD F150 by the other dealers and felt great. Oh yah, my dealer had installed hard tonneau cover and the truck was in the showroom all that time, never kept outside. The other were and still are outside UNSOLD.
Therefore on a four year loan for my truck I am paying a total of $767.00 (US$511) or US$11/month.
In the sense of future value, in some way I feel fortunate and in some ways I feel disappointed.
I was under the impression that Ford/HD was going to produce 20000 unit each year for five years for a total of 100,000. I read the article on the 2001 and that they went to a supercrew I was a little let down because I thought they would be all the same for the whole production run. Also in that same article they only produce 8000 units which most went ot the states.
I feel that the 2000 model can be possibly worth more because they are only 8000 and they rest are supercrew with a possiblity of 80000 of them.
Also I feel the economy is palying a big part of these low sales.
I keeping thinking of the stories I hear from the muscle car era of the sixties and early seventies and maybe in 2025 the trucks will be the feature trucks.
Concerning people who turn a regular F150 into a HD Edition that was done in the past with '69 Z28 Camaros, Chevelles and Fiero's to look like Ferraris. Counterfeits and knock off of everything is everywhere. I go to bed knowing mine is an original and I am the first and hopefully the only owner.
Lastly, can someone e-mail at crestwoodrailings@on.aibn.com some information how I can get my authentic Ford HD certicate and key tag.
You guys have the money and power but remember we have the beer. Just kidding.
Peace to all and Happy New Year with your new trucks. Keep on trucking and biking.

I will never buyin San Antonio again because of outside dealers dealing better...Bluebonnet Ford in New Branfels and Jennings Anderson in Boerne....They both advertise in the Express News..I will check again Wednesday and try to scan the ads...Red wont even match other ads...although I live only 5 miles from them, I drove the extra 45 minutes to get a better deal......this is a sad but true story..the dealers names are actual dealers...lol......Dave
