Beautiful! Thanks for the pics. Gotta put that on my shopping list.
So, how do you like it? Can you feel any difference in power or sound?

Sound..no. Feel..oh yes.
Its definately a tad more peppy
.
I took the truck to the track <gainesville raceway> This past wed when It was still stock as a baseline test.
It ran a 16.4@ 83.4mph.
The sad part is that Gville is closed for the winter. I will have to wait till January 15th to find out how the Intake and Superchip mods affect 1/4 mile performance.

No..why would it?
You are required to disassemble your current intake system. Remove the Maf sensor from the giant Cylindrical resonator and place it inline with the Air Force One kit.
The Polished Aluminum tube comes with a port for the IAT sensor.

The reason I ask is because a friend put one on their mustang and the light came on took it to dealer and they said it was because of it. Had to remove or warranty would be voided.

Hi harleyrules,
Sounds like that Mustang may have had an installation issue, as those kits do not generally cause any kind of Check Engine light, unless the MAF was damaged or not reconnected properly during installation of the kit, etc.
And as long as it's installed properly and not causing a CE light, then it cannot affect the warranty by law. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects those of us who choose to use aftermarket parts.
Good luck,

Rogersbw, I recently installed the K&N FIPK system and there is definitely a whooshing noise when I hit the accelerator hard. (Not to mention a kick in the butt, too!)
It's the sound of air sucking into the fuel injector mechanism -- kinda reminds me of the old 4-barrel carb days. Between the FIPK and the chip, this great truck is MUCH better!

Hi Rogersbw,
You may already know this, but from reading your post about what 1/4 miles time you ran recently and that you're going to run again when the tracks open back up to see what your mods did for you.......
If you want to see just what a particular performance part did for your 1/4 mile times, the only way to identify that is to do controlled back-to-back runs with and without that part on the *same* track on the *same* day; you cannot compare times run on any other date if you're trying to determine just what a performance part did for the performance of your vehicle. Trying to compare times run now with times you run next year, month, week or day is not accurate at all in terms of determining what a particular modification did for you, and tells you nothing about what a specific part or change actually did in direct comparison for the vehicle's performance; this one of the most common mistakes people make in doing drag-strip "testing" of performance parts.
You have to establish a "baseline" anytime you want to know this kind of information, as without a baseline established that same day, you can't compare times directly.
For example, to determine just what the Superchip does for your 1/4 mile times & mph, you'd do a set of 3 runs, stock, chipped, and then stock again, with a 30 minute cooldown time to stabilize powertrain temperatures and to do a battery disconnect & draining of all residual voltage so you get a complete fresh program load each time you install or remove the Superchip. Assuming that you staged the same way each time, that gets you 3 runs made back-to-back that are directly comparable, all during a 90-minute time period, and as long as weather conditions don't change appreciably during that 90 minutes, that's about the most accurate way to do this. And of course, you have to know how to stage consistently, as whether you stage deep or shallow can throw your 1/4 miles times off by as much as 2-3 tenths due to the change in roll-out distance.
It's common for guys to run say, a 15.8 in the Fall & Winter, then do mods that you can feel add power in the seat of your pants, but go back to the strip in the Spring or Summer and actually run slower (say, a 16.1) than you did in the Fall or Winter. There are never any 2 days with the same conditions, and everything from temp., humidity, baro pressure, altitude, traction, etc. will change the ET.
If you'd like to have a set of guidelines on just how to do that kind of testing at the drag strip, including the staging technique to use for best consistency, just get in touch with us and I'll be happy to send you out that information.

Mike,
While I know you meant well with your post..and I appreciate the info...I have been running at the dragstrip for quite some time.
As you are well aware by now..posts on this board are by no means "gods final word" on any subject. Im merely posting my findings on the board to share with others.
On the night in question when I was stock..it was very cold out <well cold in florida weather> hence making the air more dense...yadda yadda yadda.
Cars always run faster at the track when its cold...this is why I wanted to do the stock run at this time. However..im hoping it will be just as cold in january as it was then.
By the way...making one run down the track bone stock..and popping on a mod and making a second run down the track immediatly would also skew the numbers depending on the temperature of the engine/coolant/oil/intake air temperature/manifold absolute pressure/etc.
There are always variables. however living at sea level...with a relatively high humidity in this state all the time. Temperature will more than likely be the most important variable in the equation. Im not a scientist nor do I claim to be...take my info for whatever you like.
PS. how on earth does altitude change at the same racetrack? sea level is sea level. 3000feet above sea level is 3000 feet above sea level. Are you referring to the movement of the tectonic plate that florida and the rest of the US sit on moving between last month and january?
