Cool SuperCharger?

Hi, I posted this question earlier but it was at the end of a string of replies to another topic - so here goes:

I want to get a superchip for my HD but have a question first.
I am planning on getting a SuperCharger (thru ford) this next spring (especially after reading the depressing 1/4 time someone else on the list posted!) Will the SuperChip work with the supercharger, or does the supercharger come with an updated chip, or should I wait to order a "special" chip after the supercharger?
Has anybody else put, or plan on putting, a supercharger in their HD?

There's no problems with the Super Chip being compatible with a supercharger...
A friend has on in his Lightning...

I have one in my HD... and will be getting a charger after the holidays... Suggestion.... Get supercharger elsewhere...will be less...

Well..In defense of my "pitiful" time...The truck did only have 1100 miles on it, and I was indeed babying it off the line. <only cutting a 2.5 60' time.

As I said..when January comes around, I should be pulling much much better times with the truck completely broken in, lowered, and the chip/intake.

I think low 15s high 14s are easily possible.

Talking

Hey guys, just thought I'd chime in here. I put a Magnacharger on my 2000 5.4 F150, nice kit. The Ford kit you mention is a Powerdyne centrifugal blower, they work OK for the money. Kits like the Magnacharger, Kenne Bell, and Holley Thunder are all positive dispacement blowers, instant boost. I went with the Magnacharger because it's intercooled, and I noticed quite a few dealers installing them on new trucks. I then added a "custom calibrated" Superchip, no problem. If you already have a Superchip, I think they charge you $125 to reprogram it. With the blower, the chip takes care of the sloppy shifting characteristics and shift points, very cool. I got the whole set up (blower, chip, and FIPK) from www.totalperformancesolutions.com. I actually maintain their website, so naturally I got a good deal (no plug intended). I know you'll find some useful info on the page, dyno graphs and all!

Later.

Rogersbw:

Hi, I am so sorry - I didn't mean to belittle your time..
I used to own a 1999 TransAM and did low 13s with very little modifications (muffler, drag-radials, LS1 "whisper" air cleaner cover) and am rather spoiled. I knew the truck wasn't going to be anywhere near the T/A... but was hoping it would do a little better than 16s.. It seems to have quite a bit of "spunk" for a pickup.. and was dissapointed when reading your post.

I now have 3400 miles on mine, in just over 2 months :-O , and it did pick up some power after about 2500 miles. If it breaks in like my t/a did it should pick up some more (natural) "oomph" at 5000 and again at 12000...

The reason I was going for the Ford Supercharger was for warranty reasons. I am cancelling the coverage thru the dealer and going with the bumer/bumper coverage available thru my insurance which is more comprehensive and far less expensive. They will honor the coverage as long as I have a ford manufactured part installed by a ford dealership.

I wasnt offended Just making sure you knew it wasnt a true "best time" but more of a "slowest you could possibly go" time. hehe

My 96 Impala SS would run 13s as well <12s on the juice> and Id never expect the truck to keep up with it either. However, low 14s with bolt ons will keep me ahead of most of the rice around town.

Ill keep the list posted with mods vs times as I go along with the mod list.

On a side note...I hit 3400 miles today and in 1 month I really need the weather to get nicer so I can ride the bike more often.

Rogersbw,
You and I have the same motivation - keeping those ricers at bay!!! Although, amongst the many "wanna bes" there are a couple around here that could have taken the T/A.. How embarassing it would be to be taken out by a car with 3 wings and tons of stickers... Hmm.. if I add a bunch of stickers on my harley would it go faster? Nah, I'll stick with the supercharger.. I do plan on taking it to the track this year after the chip and charger are in - I can't wait to see the times. Hope I can find some cheaper tires to ruin though ;-)
