Hi,
Has anybody managed to get a set of these? I've checked the 3 dealerships in my area and was told that it isn't a "stocked" item so I would have to order them, but they are on back-order with no ETA.. I asked them what happens if my rims get stolen before they get them in.. No reply..

Does anybody know if aftermarket locks will work?

Lanna

Cool

Devilish....
I also had the same problem with my Parts Department...I personally called McGard Products and was advised that they make the wheel locks for Ford...

Go to back to your Parts Department and tell them to look up there Stock # or Part #
""" YL3Z1A043AA""" these are the locks.. My order took roughly 5-6 days... Some of these rocket scientists that work behind those counters get lost in their back yards....

By the way...if stolen...""Tough Luck"" hope you have good insurance...Also these locks won't stop theft only slow them down and this may cause them to lose interest for fear of being caught....John from NC

I went by the dealer and bought a set. He was surprised I knew the number but they are the right ones. Cost $35.00. He also told me our wheels cost $699.00/piece to order so locks are a good idea.

Hi again 'agrv8vn'.
Yes, that Ford P/N you provided got me a set of locking wheel nuts;parts guy had 3 sets on a hook right behind the parts counter!
About your call to McGard, did they say they also make their OWN locking nuts for the truck? Reason I ask is, the Ford part has a symmetrical socket pattern and certainly not too unique. I'd go for the McGard variable pattern, if available. Thanks........Fred

Hey Gang

I put a set of Mcgard on my truck about 2 months ago thanks to my aftermarket store. They are a little longer than the stock nuts and they don't have the washer at the base but they work fine and have caused no damage to my wheels.

Greg and John,
upon viewing the set of wheel locks I bought
with John's number (this time with glasses),
I find there actually IS a random point pattern! Just a little hard to see on the recesses, being black in colour.
Sorry for the panic, and thanks again John!
Regards................Fred

Called the dealership this morning with the part # (thanks, John!) and the locks are on the way.

The parts department mgr. called me back to ask if they were hidden behind a cover. (Actually, pretty darn good service as he was concerned that if the lock-nuts weren't chromed they wouldn't fit in if showing.) I told him, yep they're behind a cover, send 'em on.

Am still waiting for the wheel locks, but if anyone is wondering if they are worth the $30 here is the current pricing of the wheels and tires as of 11/01/00 as I received from a dealer:

The Ford part # for the rims is YL3Z-1007-DA
List Price $1056.17 each
Our Price $897.74 each
The tires are Goodyear Eagle GT 11 P275/45R20
List Price $250.00 each
Our Price $230.00 each

Thanks for the inquiry. I hope to hear from you soon.

Something squishy on the pricing..Ford must have raised it quite a bit. End of Sept had a guy selling rims and tires for 4 at $3900 Cnd--even if you add a third for our diff to the US$ it makes for pretty pricy wheels I know the tires lists at about $350 Cnd and most places sell it 25% off--these wheels and tires are better than gold.
