Question New tires?

First off I'm new to F150 Online, but from what I have seen and read, it looks like a great site. Now, I'm considering replacing my tires with something a little more sporty. Maybe something like Toyo Proxes S/T or Pirelli Scorpion Zero. The size would be 295/45/20. Do any of you guys have these or know someone who does? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Hello HD4Homer,
No idea about your rim question, but just wanted to welcome a fellow SC person to the board. That makes about 6 of us that I know of.

I'm also curious about more serious rubber than the GII's since I believe these are T rated--not bad but after 2 years of driving G Force KDW's on my SVT Contour I've come to appreciate crisper turn in's etc with good rubber. Only caution would be faster wear with Z rated rubber and maybe more potential rim damage since there wouldn't be as much give. The guy I got standard F150 alum rims with General tires for winter had just sold Harley rims to a guy who put them on his Expedition with the Toyo tires. According to him they looked like they didn't belong but with serious the serious rubber on them who knows what else was happening with that truck! If anyone is looking for extra GII's let me know--my guy has tires with no rims he's anxious to get rid of.

i would switch now anyway. goodyear has destroyed the mold for the eagle gtII. they will no longer be making them. i thought they were nice looking tires. i wanted to replace 2 of mine and went to WAL*MART to special order them because my uncle is the president of all the automotive centers at walmarts and they told me they were out.

i called him up and he called goodyear and said they had 45 sets of the tires i wanted and they were no longer going to carry the GTII line.dont know if he meant for all sizes but im sure he did.

just thought id pass it on.

Tirerack is showing availability at all 3 sites for $124 a tire. The Toyo would seem to be a more than adequate replacement on the performance side but why would Goodyear stop making them--any idea? And what kind of tire will Ford put on the 2001 HD Supercrew if this is the case? I'm not planning to replace mine until I have to--another 2 years or so since I've just put Generals on reg F150 alum rims for winter.
