Harley ext. cab S/C swap????

Hi, i own a Lightning and i'm now getting a 2000 Harley flareside, i've left a deposit on it so it should be a done deal for monday (i'm replacing the Lightning!!). I have a spare Lightning lower intake, supercharger, lower pulley, idlers, wiring harness with ecu, intercooler, and other parts i have to look for in my backyard. I'm sure these parts bolt on to any 2000 f150 5.4L, but have a few questions maybe you guys can help me answer. First, is the transmission on a Lightning/ s/c Harley the same as a flareside Harley? Also, does a flareside Harley bring a posi traction differential?? And any other issues i might run into please bring them up!! Thanks

I though the 2000 Harley was basically a regular F-150 powertrain. I know in later years the Harley was more of a Lightning powertrain.

the '00 Harley truck will take everything the "normal F-150's" need to get the eaton to work, or you can go with a centrufigal

the ECU you might as well get rid of

the 4r70 transmmission is going to need some help if you want it to survive behind the eaton boosted 5.4

your current motor in the '00 Harley is the same POS as all the other n/a 5.4 2 valve motors (mine has done well at 15# though)

your '00 harley truck should have 3.73 limited slip gears

I've done some research and have come up with.. From what i've been reading and you guys have posted, the 00' Harley has the same short block and heads as my Lightning or s/c Harleys. Also, the transmission is the same. According to my research, the only difference is obviously the lower intake and s/c, the front idlers with the 2nd belt, wiring harness and computer (please correct me if i'm wrong), other than that it should be the same (i hope!!). I'll be posting pictures of the project on here..

Well, the ecu i'm going to use is from a lightning so it should work fine, i'm also swapping the complete wiring harness from front to back, it'll work fine since they are both two door.. The only issue i might run into is staying short on the harness that goes to the gas tank since the ext. cab is a bit longer than the Lightning, but i'll figure that one out some how..

you sure did your research

the lightnings and '02-'03 Harley trucks have different pistons but the heads are the same so it will bolt on

have fun getting that 4r100 ECM to shift the 4r70 transmission

yea, obviously a supercharged engine will have lower compression than a n/a engine... The transmission issue I'll have to look into, but i'll still be using the lightning's ecu.. Can anyone recommend a good low compression piston/ rod kit for this motor?

you are not understanding what I am trying to tell you, transmission control has nothing to do with the engine...

if you keep your 4r70 you need to keep your current ECM and just have it tuned

anything intended for a lighting (regarding engine internals) and you'll be fine

n/a 5.4L f150's up to 2003 come with a 4r100, same year range f150's that come with a 4.6L bring a 4r75 which is a newer version of the 4r70, the 4r70 came on older crown victorias and mustangs.. The only difference between the 4r70 and 4r75 is an additional sensor.. The 00' Harley i'm getting comes with a 4r100 just like the tranny in my Lightning and s/c Harleys..

Hit up harley356 on nhtoc.com or lightningrodder.com He has 2 and has done the SC conversion to both...he will answer all the questions you have and probably has detailed instructions on how to do it all
