Lifting a LIMITED

Hello all, new guy here.

Posting this question in the HD forum as I have heard the new pearl white "Limited" is quite similar to the Harley edition F150s. The AWD transfer case being the most important for my lift dilemma.

I have a new Limited on the way as my new company truck. (pipeline construction) Previously did a quick search for a small lift/ levelling kit for the new F150s and saw that a 2 and 2 1/2 inch spacers existed.
Stopped by a 4x4 accessory shop today and they said i shouldn't use a lift in a new Ford with the AWD transfer case. It would cause a vibration and possible damage they said.

So, does anyone have any actual experience / knowledge of doing a 2" lift with an AWD F150?? or a link to more information.

I thought that an extra two inches of lift, and maybe about an extra inch or two of extra tire would give me enough clearance to overcome some of the terrain and conditions the truck will have to go through on the rare occasion.
I hope there is a solution that won't cause any damage to the drivetrain.

Any help much appreciated.

TIA,

max

Its been done before.

The thing with those leveling kits is that they are hard on suspension parts. You'll eat up ball joints faster. They should work just fine on your truck though. You would need to have a bigger lift before you come across vibrations.

I work in the oil patch as well, this winter one of the bosses on a project I was on had a Harley Davidson F150 as his company truck, and the only thing he did was get a set of 20" wheels from an FX4 and put a good set of tires on them and swap to those while he was working. He didn't seem to have any trouble making it everywere anyone else was going, and then when he was back in the city for time off he just switched back to his Harley Wheels. Thats one thing to consider.

Your not putting a Welder and a bunch of welding tools in the box are you? Cause you might need a helper leaf or some air bags if thats the plan.

Hope that helps you.

I'm thinking about lifting mine as well, but with a 6" suspension lift. It's been done before, but like you I'm researching everything I can because I too have the awd transfer case.

I went through the same thing a few months ago, and then I started to deal with a local shop for some prices and stuff and just gave up on the idea after enough complications over prices and parts. But as far as I know you can get any lift kit you want so long as you get a high end front driveshaft.
