2006 Harley Davidson F150 Towing Limit

Getting feedback in this area is like growing hair on a rock!!

Anyway, here goes..

Looking at the towing specs of ALL F150s, the 2006 Harley Davidson F150 4x2Supercab, 144.5 wheelbase, 5.4, with 3.73 max towing is 5800 lbs. Whereas the plain 2006 F150 with the same specs, towing max is 9500 lbs.

Are the wheels the factor making the towing less on the Harley Davidson F150from the plain F150s???

They 20" tyres are the limiting factor.

If you really want the HD (and you should ), you could always get a set of regular wheels/tyres for when you want to max out with the towing.

Yeah, the looks of the HD knock you down!! And the looks had won me over to suck up the big loss in trading my 06 XLT for a 06 HD. The sun roof, the console, the whole package is sweet. However, up against my XLT for ride quality, the HD didn't stand a chance..

My XLT can cruise at 80 mph with 7x14 trailer with 3 bikes aboard, and 3 humans. The truck is smooth as whistle. At 70 mph with the HD, not only a rougher ride (which I can stand), but vibrations too, and that's without a trailer!
I even thought I might just had a bad HD, with something wrong with a wheel or something causing the bad ride. Was looking to test ride another from another dealer, but when I saw the towing limit cut down, I passed.

Seems like anybody want to tow over 6000 lbs, better get the 250 HD, because max on the F150 HD is 5800 lbs.
