Drag Racing English Style
Had a good time yesterday at the Santa Pod Raceway in England.
The track was a bit greasy and there was a serious headwind but I did a new PB of 13.92 at 98.9 mph.
Whooohooo
Just to give you some idea of other times being run, a Vauxhall Monaro (same as a GTO) did a 14.2, a Maserati GT did a 14.8 and most of the Subaru's, Evo's and Skylines were in the 14/15's.
One Lightning ran a 12.9 on Nitto Drag radials and another ran a 13.2.
Both have 6 lowers, chips aand cold air etc.
Pretty good times given the conditions.
Funniest bit was sneaking in the ricer lanes and nobody would race me so I had to do a solo pass.

NICE!! I DIDN"T KNOW THESE BIG trucks could move that quick in the 1/4 mile... So is it the same Supercharger as the lightning??

There's way quicker HD's out there. They are very heavy but if you spend the $$$, you can go as fast as you like.
The engine is the same as the Lightning but with a bigger upper pulley on the blower. In stock form 340hp vs 380 for the L.
The main problem is that the HD probably weighs about 1000lb more than the L due to the bigger cab, doors and heavy *** interior.

I got the bugshield from a vendor on ebay. Sorry, can't remember the name as it was a year ago.
Try searching on there bud.

If you changed the top pulley to a Lightning one and uploaded the Lightning tune, the power would be identical to all intents and purposes.
If you changed just the lower pulley (and tune - very important) your power level would be above a stock L.
If the L made the same mods as you, he would be slightly more powerful due to his smaller upper pulley spinning the blower faster.
As standard, the smaller L upper pulley give it approx. 2lbs more boost than the HD.
The real advantage of the L over the HD is weight. On the dragstrip, every extra 100lb you carry is a 0.1 second deficit.
If the L weighs 1000lb less than an HD, it would be (and is) approx 1 second quicker over the quarter for the same power output.
More Bling = less speed :o
