Angry Rims are pitting

My rims are pitting, does anyone else have this problem??
dealr said I must have used an abrasive to clean them and removed the protective film. Of course I never have so I said BS and they so sorry not covered by warranty.

Try another dealer.
If you used an abrasive, the wheels would be scratched to hell.

Yeah, I haven't been to pleased with this dealer. Supposedly the district or area warranty rep concurred with the dealer rep. that an abrasive must have been used. As you said the rims would be scratched, they are as smooth as a new set. I told them to test the residue left on the rims, no test, even though the detail guy who made the determination that an abrasive was used, has no background in visual chemical analysis.
Freedom Ford is right, freedom from honoring warranty claims is their fame.

Driving in salty conditions will cause the pitting in the chrome. I lived in Florida and had several sets of chrome rims get that from driving on the beach without washing very soon afterwards. Now that I live up north, the salting of the roads during the winter makes it even worse. That's why I take my chrome off during the winter months now. I no longer have that problem.

Yeah, living at the beach is a real pain!! Salt , dumb tourist, bikinis, fishing, sunsets and the list goes on.
I used to wash my truck every other day,but that got old real quick. I don't remember reading anything about not living in a coastal region in my owners manual. The chrome rims on my Dodge (steel) don't show any signs of rust, and I only wash it once a month. Can you tell which truck I really Love??

Question

I have been to Dealer and they have me coming back so they can take a digital pic to send to Ford. I actually have a piece of chrome peeling off my rim! Also some pitting.

There is also rust coming thru on roof area near gutters .

I did find when changing tires that rubber insullation on the bottom of shock tower on right front wheel has migrated out of position. I will take a pic and post. Well i will make followup appointment and post after results .
