f-150 Harley Driveshaft

I am installing a 99 Lightning Motor, Tranny, and rear end into a 99 F-150 Supercab and wanted to know if I need a custom made driveshaft, as the one from the lighting will be short. Will the driveshaft from a 99 Harley supercab f-150 work and also handle the extra power from the lightning? I appreciate the help, thanks.

profiler632,

I just saw this and can answer your questions.

I could have shortened my OE Aluminum driveshaft but didn't trust it to take the torque so I built a new one using 3 1/2" x .083 wall tubing. So far it's bulletproof.

You can't use the HD driveshaft since it is a two piece and requires a mount for the center support bearing. Besides, IMO two piece driveshafts are troublesome.

Romeo , MIke waz up boy's.. To answer your question .
Custom.
Take your front yoke off of the shaft . Insert it into the back of the tranny, pull it back out 1 inch.
Measure from the milled surface where the end caps bolt together to hold the u-joint to the same point on the differential's yoke and you have your measurement.

You can get some shop's to weld on larger yoke's front and a replacement yoke for the back or just u- joint cup's from the 250-350's line to beef it up some for the torque that beast is going to put out. :santa:
