belt squeak

This only happens sometimes. WHen I start the truck in the morning I immediately hear a minor squeaking and I assume its coming from the belt. I think its still the factory belt. But it does go away after several minutes. Is this normal? Is it ok to have some squeak as long as it goes away?

jc the sqeaking is either from the belts being streched out and worn, which will happen after time, or the belt and pulleys are dirty. Such as rust and fine dust in the pulley grooves will cause the belts to slip. Both of these cases need to be looked at. The sqeaking is caused by slippage mainly in initial start up of the day, b/c the alternator is recaharging the battery the pump is working to get air to the engine etc. Now this is just me but I replace my "belts" every 5k miles, probably b/c i live in the desert where there is no humidity. I hope this helps TTYL
