FYI 5W20 synthetic blend.

Be careful, yesturday I took my 03 into the dealer for her oil change. The dealer didn't know this oil existed. Good thing I provided my own oil and filter. Plus the young fella wanted to add another quart which would have overfilled the crankcase. I am a Ford mechanic and am aware proper procedures are not always followed.

yep

Yes they wanted to put 7 qts. in, plus they were going to use any old oil, probably the oil dealers get in bulk.

I hear ya. But it is better for warranty reasons. I have been a Ford mechanic for years before getting into the engineering field. If I had a dime for every oil change !!!
I am presently dealing with a cross threaded oil drain in my Ranger. Tried the oversized plugs but it is still leaking, have to go to plan B. Don't want to change the pan, too much work. Those oil change places are scary. Purchased the truck with the leak.
I supplied the oil and filt. and still got charged 20 bucks. Go figure.

If I let the dealer change it then yes there will be warranty issues!
They dont even know how much to put in or that they have 5W20 oil for crying out loud!
Plus I use Amsoil oil and filters and I am sure they never heard of that stuff.
Bottom line do it yourself

Synthetic syndrome

I think I finally resolved the leaking ranger oil drain plug. I purchased one of those cheap expandable rubber/neoprene plugs. Seems to be holding.

As far as the dealership; I am disappointed/discouraged that they were so incompetant. Dealerships scare me, they usually are on flat rate and rush things. I am glad I did the research first.

i take my truck to walmart to get the oil changed!

i save all the receipts so if they screw up something, i can prove they did it!
they let me stand by the truck while they do the work on it.
i bring them a mobil 1 oil filter, and have them use mobil 1 full synthetic.

Another little ditty

Today I called 4 times to the dealer about balancing my wheels. No calls back Hmmm. I had to call an outside wheel supplier to get them done @ 17.50/tire. Hmmm!
I want them balanced so the weights are not damaging my rims. What is going on here
