Synthetic vs. Regular engine oil.

Would anyone offer info on synthetic oil? I will be doing my first oil change soon and would like to hear any input on synthetic oil verses standard oil. The obvious is cost. Any gained hp, or downfalls with synthetic? My truck still has the break in oil in it eventhough I purchased it back in December. It doesn't get out much, just dealer stuff and local car shows. It only has about 1000 miles on it (1600 Km).

No downfalls to synthetic! Best there is as far as oil.

Amsoil
Royal purple
Mobil 1

These are the best oils out there. I use Amsoil oil and filters.

At 3K go to synthetic oil. For info check here:

Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the info. My neighbor is an AMSOil dealer. I'll talk to him.
