Bang For The Buck

What's the consensus on the first step on mods for increased power for my '02 HD? Currently it's bone stock. I'm getting a recommendation to do a +6 psi lower pulley, increased flow airbox, and some chip work based on dyno runs. I recall some previous message traffic which seemed to confirm this. Is this consistent with recent experience you have had, or should I consider some other low buck mods also / in place of??

What about going to a +8 psi lower pulley? What are the trade-offs? Will this really result in more power compared to the +6 psi pulley, or does it just spin the blower faster without much more power due to blower inefficiencies? Also, can you use the +8 psi pulley with 93 octane fuel without getting into detonation problems? Will this result in having to back off on the ignition timing, so some of the potential HP gain is lost? Thanks

First things, first! Before you add HP, I recommend the FTVB and Moroso pan to your tranny first!

Your best bang for the buck is mod the stock box, and put a K&N panel filter in it.

Install a Factory Tech valve body, and 4wd trans pan.

Install a 6# pulley and a set of Denso 22's, and get on a dyno to check your hp/tq gains as well as verify safe air/fuel ratio...
