Radar Love
I have read the previous posts, but was just looking for an update. What is the general feeling on who makes the best radar detector. Is there any new options coming out that I need to be sure to get? Thanks for the info.
Gotcha!!!!!
Ask Josh...one of my job skills is a Radar Training Officer for my department. The detector is nice if you are over the limit in a group of cars, as you will pick up the beam as it is reflected from other cars. However, if you are by yourself, on a long stretch of road, 20 over the limit, and I light you up......CAUGHT!!! Learn to drive the terrain, and ask where you would set a radar trap. Feel free to contact me for any techy info or ways to beat the rap (yea, sounds strange, but I have a soft spot for Harleys, F150 Harley trucks, or any other two wheel machine.....) Rube
I may be a little biased, since I started with Cincinnati Microwave products 20 years ago with their first Escort and have owned almost every new unit they brought to market, but the new 8500 series is the way to go for me. While I have tried the V1 and think it is an awesome unit I decided to stay loyal with Escorts proven product history and have been completely satisfied. I have had the 8500 for about 8 months and love it.
All said though, PhillyRube is dead on. I have had some training on speed enforcement in my 12 years as an MP and if your running alone it doesn’t matter what type of detector you have, your a "sitting duck"! While it does not result in the best fuel mileage, if you manage the road & terrain, as PhillyRube indicates, when your alone you can minimize detection opportunities to a certain degree.

I have to second the Escort comment... My step-father had one many years ago and it was a top quality unit.
I can't attest to the V or the PPort though...
Personally, I kinda like my Bel...hahahaha... I know it's a cheapy but, it's paid for itself MANY TIMES OVER!
