Power Mirrors Reverse?
Power Mirrors Reverse?
Does anyone know if the Navigator or Blackwood has mirrors that turn down when you put it in Reverse and if so, what would be needed to do that with the HD, I'm used to it with my previous SUV's and it helps backing a trailer or down an inclined drive.
Sounds like this might be 'General Motors thing'...
And, I hate to admit it but, it sounds like a logical thing to have. I just don't see driving around in a 'gagolanch' (glorified rubbermaid trashcan) so that I have the ability to reverse with a trailer...
Especially considering that I consider myself pretty good at trailering... *shrugs*

03 Navs and Expies have this feature. Have seen a few come into the shop and customers complain that the mirrors do not return to their original settings after taken out of reverse.

Most Acuras have this feature as well. I liked it since I really like to position my car right when I park. It's a pet peeve of mine since I hate people who park like idiots.
edit: It should go without saying that I also like to back into a parking space.

My LX470 had it, and the RX300, both taller vehicles like the F-150, once you are used to it you miss it, my drive has a fairly steep angle to back down, so it allows you to see the sides of the drive without having to look back. I bet it's simply a switch that is tied to putting it in reverse.
Mine returned everytime to normal, and if you back into spots it does help you see the lines and the sides of the truck

Like all of the above many cars has that feature from a long time ago. Beleive it or not it is very useful to protect your rims
When you are parking sideways next to a curb it helps you see how close you are to it when parking. Off course with PW you can just move it yourself. But for lazy people (or to impress neighbor) is plain cool.
Now, back to the original question, I don't think it would be too difficult to adapt if most of the memory logic resides in a module used only by the mirrors. Otherwise some good schematics would be required.

HD4mula, I was thinking the same, wondered if someone here had the books and would look, probably have to link into the shift somewhere.
Don't think it's for the lazy, just nice that it automatically happens then the mirrors return to the proper setup.
