I have a friend who has one of the first HDs. He has less than 27K miles on it. The other day i was looking up under it comparing how his exhuast is run to my 99 Expy. I noticed he had an oil leak. The oil was accumulating at the motor to trans. Anyone else had this problem. And if so where did it originate at. I have not had time to look under the hood to see if it was coming from the heads. Thanks for any help.

 

common problem on some older 5.4's. a head gasket leak. what year is his truck? I believe the supposedly fixed in in 01. I hope anyhow.

 

I beleive it is a 99.

 

the HD's started in 2000 as a extended cab.. none in 99..
is that what he has?

 

I had this very same problem on my '02 HD after being under it for new anti-sway bar install. After taking it back to the dealer with only 1,000 miles, it ended up being a rear main seal leak fixed under warranty. Haven't had a single problem since, knock on wood!
