What mods and 1/4 mi times are you guys running?

Hey,1st time postin' over here so plz. cut me some slack
I'm seriously considering trading my "L" on an '03 HD.
What will it take in terms of mods to be able to use me current license plate? [RUNS 12's}
I believe I can utilize most of my "L" stuff on the HD with close to the same results.
I see Johnny has Sue's truck runnin' pretty good.anybody else there?
Also what's more popular two-tone or solid Blk?
I work for a Dlr so I can get a smokin' deal on either one.
Thanks for any help!-Dave.

Oh, 12's... The only folks who have broken the 12 mark are running an 8lb lower with a JL tune as far as I know.

I think the fastest was a 12.7x from CobraSVT in full stock trim on stock tires...

I don't think you'll get there with the 6lb lower. I have it and all the other mods and I'm still at 13.4.

I have some slicks and a new tune coming and have added a couple more bolt ons... Maybe I can crack that 12 mark with a 12.99999, but I think it is going to be a stretch.

Your best bet would probably be to avoid all of the mods since they add up and just add a KB and run very conservative boost to get you just over 400HP.

If I had it to do all over again, that's probably the route I would take... Maybe 13 or so lbs on the KB.... somewhere around 410 or so HP? guessing, though...

If you get seriuos, let me know and i'll give you a list a mods and the others who HAVE cracked the 12 mark...

Ken

Aaron from Metco-Inc. has busted off a 12.3 with a little juice in his '02 That's the quickest I've heard of thus far. I can't wait for April to come so I can go racing here

Thanks guys,I would just go with the KB,but i'll be keeping all the mods off my "L" so the cost is not an issue.I also have Hoosiers so that may help a bit.
Which colors do you guys have?I've seen both and am leaning towards two-tone.

wow! last time i talked to aaron he was running 12.5's on the juice. 12.3's
not long until we see some 11's, either juiced or all motor!

black seems to be the more popular cover with members at this site for the 03's, but at ftw, 2tone is the more popular cover.

my vote would be get the 2tone, special color for 03 and the pintsripe matches on it better IMO, but the black is just as sweet! really hard decision to make, but whatever you choose, you can't go wrong!

Thanks guys,i've pretty much made up my mind to got for the two-tone.We have one being built on 2/24,so I should have it by early March.
I guess i'm willing to sacrifice a little "***** out" performance to get the extra room, and all the style and luxury the HD offers.
RobG,I've also owned two "L"s.'01 and '02.Have you had your HD out to the track yet?
Thanks again!-Dave.

Add at least 6 tenths to what your L ran because of the weight.
1 1/10 for every 100 pounds.

Question What's "HB"

What's an "HB" and how much do they cost? Also, in regards to the 6lb vs 8lb lower, why doesn't Ford just have the 8lb as stock anyway? Are there any cons to switching to the 8lb? I'm kinda new to the performance lingo

Do you mean KB or HD?
KB is a Kenne Bell Supercharger setup, which will run you anywhere from $3000 up to $5500 depending on your requirements for complete and safe setup. HD's on the other hand cost $33,000+

Here's a link to an in depth article that compares the Kenne-Bell blower to the Ford/Eaton blower-

I am currious to see what my 1/4 times will be once done with my truck. Target date to finish is April 15. Going with KB blower and is on order. Built bottom end. Monsterbox tranny. Already have the exhaust setup installed and a few other goodies. No NOS though, I like to be blown not bottle fed. Just like the power there all the time..
