Im needing to purchase a hitch for my 02HD soon. What makes, models and part numbers would you recommend? Thanks for the info.

I installed the Hidden Hitch #82583, six bolt install.

The galleries are temp. closed, but when it is back on line you can see a pic of the hitch installed on my truck in my gallery under W1.

I got a genuine Ford hitch installed. Was $152 installed. I like to keep my truck as "original" as possible and the hitch was made for the truck and has "Ford" stamped on it.

my vote is for the hidden hitch, mostly because its hidden...duh
there was a thread at ftw a few weeks back about this and pics of like 1/2 dozen or so hitches were posted, hidden hitch looked the best IMO.

I had a Valley Industries receiver on my '00 H-D. Nice hitch! Fit so close to the rear bumper that I had to check it with a dollar bill to tell if was touching or not. Only the receiver box was exposed as like the Hidden Hitch.

My '03 lightning had one on it as delivered so I sold the Valley to a friend. Never had the chance to use it. The L' should see some trailer hauling duty since my Cousin is building me a custom two place bike trailer in dark shadow gray to match my truck.

My Wife picked up the Valley Industries receiver for $120 at Pep Boys. The $99 Hidden Hitch from JC Whitney is a good deal if the shipping isn't over $20.

Thumbs up Hidden Hitch (OLD PIC WARNING!)

Here is another picture of my Hidden Hitch, which is easy to install and is pretty much "hidden." (Thus, the name.) As mentioned, you can get it from J.C. Whitney for $99 and they usually have a coupon for free shipping, too. Most of the "old timers" on the forum have seen this picture a couple of times, but it does pay to re-post now and then in case it was missed. (If need be, lighten the pic up in your image program to see more detail of the hitch itself.)

Great hitch and I'd sure put the same on again.
