Yes, they beat Chevrolet. But there are still more "GM"trucks sold than Ford. If you count GMC trucks, which are the same thing as Chevrolet, Fords claim to fame goes down the tubes.I'll be fair though. I'll let Ford throw the Lincoln Blackwood in it's total count. Hmmm? Lets see that adds another 15-20 right there...

I think there are 3 of them on this forum alone
well thats makes no sense at all though. hmm, let us add GMC and Chevy trucks together to try and get a total higher than the fseries, because we can't do it on our own individually
just cuz they are "sister" companies, doesn't mean adding them all up together to beat one SINGLE model means they win. They are 2 separate trucks, 2 separate brands, so 2 separate amounts sold, not one big total

The best-selling vehicle in America for twenty-one straight years, the Ford F-150 finished in first yet again in 2002.
I'm not trying to say GM wins, I just stating the facts. GM put more trucks on the road last year than Ford. I'm not asking anyone to like them, or buy them, I'm just setting the record straight.
So what your saying is, you would never buy a Chevrolet, but you would buy a GMC? No, I didn't think so. Why? Because they are the SAME truck. Call it how you want to, but GM still sold more light duty trucks last year...

The Super Duty has been king of that market for a few years now. GM is trying to get a better market share as well as Dodge. They are both gaining grounds, but still not enough to take the title from Ford.
I think Ford is about to assure keeping that spot with the introduction of the 6.0 diesel. The hp/tq numbers look awesome...

Yep, you got it. It's based on light duty sales.
GMC sold only a little over 110,000 Sierras last year. That number combined with Chevy's Silverado sales still falls about 30-35 thousand short of F150's 811+ thousand!
Now if you want to take into consideration Heavy Duty's ... well ... then it's REALLY not a discussion! LoL I should have put this on the "discussion board" but didn't only because the article's marquee truck pic was an H-D! (best of the best ... I guess?)
Having owned a '95 Dodge, '97 F350, '98 Sierra, '99 F350, and '02 F150 ... I can certainly understand why Ford delivers the best trucks on the road!
well if you can combine the GMC's with the Chevies, than you can combine the F150's with the superduties.
GMC and Chevy are TWO different brands, and TWO different vehicles. Silverado and Sierra. not a combined S-series if you will.
if thats the case, then the Honda Accord#'s should be added with the Acura sister car of that. the taurus's #'s added with the Sable's, the Explorer #'s with the mountaineer, the Caravan added with the Town and country and the voyager, etc. etc. But they don't, so quit trying to make GMC come out on top you GMC zealot you

Right on!, Josh!
Even IF the Sierra (light duty GMC) and Silverado (light duty Chevy) were added together for total GM produced light duty trucks ... still would not surpass the F150 (light duty Ford)!!

I'm not saying that it wrong, but it sure seems like a low number compared to Silverado sales.
As far as TOTAL truck sales, take a look at these numbers-http://www.pacific-audio.com/performance/messages/205698.html
I just received Decembers auto sales recap and GM trounces Ford in the truck department. The numbers are as follows:
GM
Dec. 2001 231,501
Dec. 2002 301,528
Ford
Dec. 2001 198,113
Dec. 2002 207,742
Year-to-date
GM
2001 2,631,535
2002 2,789,500
Ford
2001 2,476,109
2002 2,297,993
Like I said before, I'm not trying to start a brand war. I DO NOT CARE who sold what. I have a garage full of GM trucks, and like them all. I also own an HD 150 that I love to drive. I have the best of both worlds...
