Question Slam or not to Slam?!

I have already “leveled” my truck with 2” shackles. But I really like the look of a low H-D! Since I tow a bike trailer and my boat, I don’t want to give up anything in that regard (bottoming, etc) should I go lower (I do have a load-leveler set-up though). Also, as SOP, whenever I wash the truck, I always wash the wheel wells to keep it “new”. With it being lower, it is very difficult to get the wash mitt between the fenders (especially up front) and the tire in order to clean the wells. So, I have been thinkin’ … how do I make it “low” and still have full functionality? My thought is to install some kind of “clean” ground effects (Street Scene?) and then modify/reinstall the nerfs below the effects to create a visual effect of “low-ness” but still have function. Taking the nerfs off altogether is not an option! … I absolutely love ‘em! What do y’all think? … too ricey? Since ground effects are $$$, I was thinking about doing a mock-up … take one nerf off, create fake-effect (about 3”), paint it “close-to-match”, and then just set the nerf back up there with some kind of blocks and step back to see what it looks like. Thoughts? Suggestions?

airbags

check out mbruimt (sp?) truck. he's got a 02 DSG with a DGM carbon fiber kit on it, thats pretty similar to the lightning. they also sell it in fiberglass too i believe so its cheaper. anyway, it sounds like it could look pretty cool when you finish it and try and mount the nurf bars below the ground effects, but not sure until see some pics. maybe a photoshop is in order here. if i have time sunday, i'll do one up for ya if nobody else does before then

goodluck!

#713,

Thought about that. I turned an F350 SD Crew Centurion (no longer need THAT kind of pullin' power) for the H-D. I had "bags"/springs on the F350 to increase load cap to 14K. Also had anti-sway on it and it still got pretty dicey coming down long grades. I towed the boat (with the H-D) last summer with NO probs as it is ... just want it to "look lower" and keep the same handling characteristics. I do have a 1" rear stabilizer that I think helps a lot. I think all H-Ds should come from KC with a rear stabilizer! ... towing or NOT!!

hey lee, what color is your truck? if its DSG i'll just photoshop some nurf bars on mbruimt (sp?) truck. otherwise if your truck is black, i'll photoshop his black also and do the nurfbars
