JL...What can I say?!

Monday, I sent JL my Diablo chip because my truck was pinging like crazy in second gear. Prior to me mailing the chip, it was sitting in my desk collecting dust, because my JDM chip was ping free. However, after debating as to whether to sell the chip, I decided that it was rather senseless to lose money on it, so I sent it back to JL for another reburn. In my letter to JL, I explained the problem, and told him that I was running the Superchip with no problems, and that I would again like to see if the Diablo would work in my truck. In addition I told him that I had also just purchased a set of Kooks headers (which he knew that I didn't buy from him) so the chip would need to be adjusted accordingly.

Along with the letter, I sent a blank check telling Johnny to charge me for Next Day Air return, as well as the cost to reburn the chip. It seems that Johnny has had to reburn this chip at least five times for various reasons-- some of those being for detonation (I think I have a freak truck), and I knew that he could not keep doing this for free.

Well I got my chip back today, and along with it is my blank check, with the words "No Charge" written across the front; I was floored! I got free Next Day shipping and a reburn for absolutely nothing, and I'm still not sure what to think about the whole situation.

As for the chip, it may still ping, and it may find itself back in my desk drawer--time will tell, but JL's actions/customer service are first class and I thought it was my responsibility to share this with everyone. I have always had positive experiences with the Tuners that I have used-- they always try to please. But this particular gesture was unexpected and very much appreciated. Thanks Johnny.

I'm sure the other top tuners are first class too, but... I know Johnny is! Each time I've called him he ended up spending 15-30 minutes on the phone with me explaining everything in detail. Very cool guy... that offers absolutely top notch service .

People like Johnny will survive while the others die off. It's the honesty, in the end, that will make or break a man.

Ron, Johnny could have squeezed a hundred or so bucks out of you, and knowing you, you wouldn't have complained. He chose not to and he'll reap the benefits of his actions. I tip my hat to JL.

Tim

I agree. JL is first rate. I have been very happy with the chip and pulley combo that I purchased from him.

Johnny, what is your view regarding HD engine mods and rod failures? There have been several reports on this and other sites.
