How do I know my truck birthday?
On the 00's, (and i'm pretty sure the 01's also) on the owners plaque it says the build date also, in addition to the model year, build #, vin, and owners name.
i guess ford is getting lazy, and thats why they are including the build # already in the trucks so they don't have to worry about shipping the right build #'s and dates on a plaque, and just put the owners name and vin on the plaques they ship out. But This is good though in the sense you don't have to worry about finding out your build # and not getting one, and you guys get 2 plaques, too bad they don't put a build date on them. i thought they did, but i guess not.

o yeah, you can also look on your engine block, there's a little thing that says the month and year that was made. check it out, its on the drivers side. i know a few guys with 02's and their engine was built a few months before their truck was.
the doorjamb sticker is probably as accurate as you'll get on a build date since you guys didn't get one on your owners plaques

BillP: What are you doing posting? You took a break on the second half?
When I took my truck for an oil change, on the completed work order ther was a production #. My door jamb says 5/02 and my production date is 051402, which is May 14, 2002.
For those people who take it to the dealer for oil change, check your printed work orders. It MIGHT be there, it was on mine.

The date that the truck started down the assembly line is on the window sticker at the bottom. The day it came off could be anywhere within a week of that. The window sticker date is the day the body was welded together, sometimes they go straight to the line and finish on the next shift, sometimes they sit a few days. But that's as accurate as you can get I think. The build date on the plaque should match it, but I'm not sure. My 2000 Lighting had abuild date from SVT of 3/17, but the buld date on the transmission was 3/22 so I know it sat a few days, the sheet from SVT matched the window sticker date.
It's possibel that it got halfway down the line and for some reason it got put aside. For instance, at one time we were literally running about 10 hours ahead of Kentucky Truck, if for some reason we went down KTPO could have needed the transmission before it got to the plant. At KTP the truck was going into the system at about the same time the tranny was getting assembled, so if we had downtime it was too late to stop the truck, and they just push it aside when it gets to that point in the line I'm told. They don't shut the line down for much. Another thing that could happen is they get a certain part on and it's defective and they can't continue it down the line, so they pull it out of line to a repair bay, it may go back on in an hour, may be off for days in theory. I don't know how long they would keep one off. The same thing happens to transmissions, the date on the tag is when it went on, but if it goesa into repair it comes off when we get to it, ussually within the same shift, but some repairs, like a new case, could get set aside until the weekend, or whenever.

Hey ChesterC, What are you doing...watching my every move?? LoL!!
I have Tivo so I let it get a little buffer so I don't have to watch commercials. Besides, I was a little nervous at half time, if you know what I mean!!
To quote Jerry Porter after the game regarding all the media hype the Jets received: 'J-E-T-S, Just End The Season!!'

yeah, that makes sense. i know i've read a complete build date (day, month, year) somewhere else for my truck, and it was a couple days off from the owners emblem. I'll have to check my window sticker to see what that says.
anyway, did you get my last email Greg? yahoo hasn't been working right for me for some reason, so i wasn't sure if you got it. It was a while ago, but i didn't hear back, so i just wanted to make sure
thanks

H-D an SVT?
Some time ago there was a thread discussion about whether the H-D is or is not an SVT vehicle. Well, I asked at three dealers. Two said yes. The third didn't know but gave me the info (phone, IP address, etc) to find out from Ford. I finally got hold of SVT Owners Association in Dearborn. Mr. Reno Giammara (SVTOA President) says absolutely! As a result, I completed the application form for a complimentary one-year membership in SVTOA. I just received a very nice SVTOA Welcome Kit that includes a neat hat pin, SVTOA pewter key ring, SVTOA window sticky, SVTOA calendar, SVTOA accessories catalog, membership card, and ... Certificate of Authenticity that documents the vehicle's date of production, vehicle ID, final assembly plant, and production sequence number!
All you have to do is go to your local dealer and request the SVTOA form, complete it with your VIN, and mail it back to SVTOA! They send ya' all this cool stuff and info on local chapters and free "Dyno Days" events.
