Question What is causing this?

Today I noticed wheels that are guiding supercharger belt (whatever is right name for them) have signs of wear that a) I don't know is it normal to happen, b) is location where it is happening normal, c) is pattern of wear normal, and d) what is causing it. Please check out pics below the message and tell me what you think (please notice that these are pictures of two separate wheels and please keep in mind truck has 11K miles on it and although I don't have proof of it there are some signs service changed belt 3K miles ago).

Thanks in advance!

That's just black paint being worn off the idler pulley's by the belt.
Pretty soon they will be shiny

Zoran, Mine are like that also, Only 6000 miles. I havent given it much thought, just passed it off as being a combination of dirt and belt dressing.

I assumed there would be some wear and tear, but what made me want to doublecheck with you guys is that it is uneven (it is just on outer area of the wheel and even there it is only in some spots). So, is such wear OK?

Even bigger reason why I wanted to doublecheck is that "line" accross whole wheel in second pic. I don't know what could have caused that if that wheel was spinning freely. Only way I could think of is if for a moment that wheel didn't spin while belt moved. What you guys think?

Thanks again!

The line is probably an imperfection in the metal. I wouldn't worry about it to much. The wear not being even across the flat area of the pulley would be caused by the pulley not being perfectly square with the belt I would think.

There is really no such thing as a stupid question. If there was, I would be in deep do-do.....
