mbrumit -- your mods

Hey dude, thanks for all the info...

I pulled this out into its own thread so we can explore in more detail

So you got the carbon fiber sides and carbon fiber roll pan? In your picture, they look painted. Would you mind getting shot up close in the bright sunlight and from a slight distance again in bright sunlight so we can see the color spread?

I really like the look of carbon fiber...

I would love to see a flurry of pictures before I dump the cash. If I don't like the color, I can go fiberglass (cheaper version) and have them painted to match.

Thanks in advance

Ken

BTW, how heavy were the chrome nurfs? Would you say the weight diff between the nurfs and the full length C.F. ground effects is very little?

I like the looks, but would like to save some weight in the process. Any chance you could weigh one of those nurfs for me? And please, please, please, weight that rear bumper when you remove it.

Thanks!

Ken

When I first decided to get the groundeffects I wasn't sure if they would look good or not, because they weren't painted. The color is almost silver with alittle bit of black, that is why they match so good. When I put on the roll pan this weekend I will get a better picture of them. The box with everything in it only weighted 10 pounds. That was box, bubblewrap, groundeffects and rollpan. So I am pretty sure that they weigh less than the nurf bars.

Mbrumit, can you explain in a little more detail the mods to install the Bassani Lightning Exhaust. I would sure appreciate any pictures you could take to help explain the mods. Did you install it yourself??? Great looking truck

2002HARLEY, I did have to cut the bottom of the fender flares. Lots of measuring and test fitting. I blended the flares to look like they are part of the ground effects. Everyone tells me they look great. When doing it I had to take my time.

Richo, I cut the stock exhaust off right in front of the muffler. Without the x-pipe the Lightning exhaust will go right back on. You do have to grid and drill the old heat shield off, to mount the bracket for the mufflers. Then I had to see how much more of the old exhaust that a needed to remove so that I could install the x-pipe. I use a dremal to do all the work. When it was all finished I drove to the muffler shop and they welded it all together. Took about 3-4 hours to do. Muffler shop could have done it in 1 hours. I don't like people working on my truck, so I do all the work myself. Do it right the first time.
