Josh, I saw that pan a couple of weeks ago. I am not sure if it will work. The center is steel. I may actually use the end caps with a different pan. I plan to get with the body shop about it. I found out today that my wheels would not even ship until the 30th of this month, so I have been pushed back by 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for looking out for me.

The truck will be sitting for about 6 weeks. I will send you some more tonight.

I am making good use of the time though.

That is the pan I saw as well. It looks good. I would really like to see it in black or grey to get a better idea.

If anyone puts it on take some pics, please.

For people with/ or had rollpans like these. Don't you lose the ability to climb into the bed with the gate up? I mean you dont' have anything to step onto anymore, unless you got a flareside.

you actually use the bumper to step on?

but nope, cuz there's no plastic surface left, unless you want to step on the painted surface, but thats not even flat. just gotta put the tailgate down and climb in

i never use the plastic steps as steps anyway. thats why they're getting smoothed and painted

Harley is right... The pan won't leave enough surface area to step on... I do climb in the bed occasionally, but I always drop the tailgate and climb up on it.

The only concern would be at the carwash where I have seen them climb into the rear bed to do the back window.... They might try to step on a rollpan with a "fake" flat surface painted like I was talking about. Probably safer just to get the smooth roll pan.

I don't tow now or see towing in my future, but if I do, it probably will be lightweight and I will get the lightest hidden class 2 that I can find since the sir mikes has a swing up lic plate for their pan.

I just need to find the time to do it.

What is the weight of the stock bumper? 100 lbs? That is a BIIIGGG weight savings...

Ken

Will the roll from SirMichael fit the HD, since the lightning is a stepside. Just curious.

ChesterC, I'm surprised you would step on the bumper to get to the bed. I'm with 356 on this one. Put the gate down to climb in the bed.

ken800, man don't let those car wash guys come near your truck especially if they would step on a painted surface.

Hehehe.... When drying the truck I normally jump in with the gate up, stepping on the plastic, not on the painted surface. Rollpans are nice, but they are not for parallel parking folks like me in SFO. I carry with me some foam adhesive that I put on the front bumber when needed, the back too.. A little bump and run to get out of the hole

sirmichaels doesn't make a rollpan for the lightning (flareside) bed anymore
that one that i posted is for a screw, so yes it'll work on all the 01 and up HD's

a member at the other site posted pics of his 01 HD with blue flames, but he's got a SS rollpan and it looked pretty sweet. 1st one i've seen on a HD.

you're worse than chester, you don't pamper and wash/wax your HD yourself? LoL
