Talking Zaino

Ok, I am ordering Zaino for my truck today. I'm a little disappointed that they don't take online orders but since I can't change it i'll move on. What do I need to order to do my truck for the first time? What other Zaino products have you guys used? Any help is appreciated thanks...BTW I want to order today so speedy replies are needed....thx!

I would get in order the Z5 wax, and Z2 wax, and ZFX treatment for the wax, and the Z6 gloss enhancer. Make sure when you wax it for the first time you wash it first using dawn or some other grease cutting soap to remove built on wax. Also you might want to clay bar it first. You can buy it from zaino but I just use mothers clay bar because it is cheaper and works the same. The ZFX gets mix with the Z5 in a seperate container and you apply this after wash, clay bar, and Z6. Then after you wait for the Z5 to set and wipe off apply the Z6 again then wait a couple of hours and repeat the Z6, Z5, Z6 step till all the fine scratches and swirls are gone. The the last step is Z6, Z2, Z6 and your down for 4 months.

Talking done deal

Thanks. I ordered Z2, Z5, Z6, Z7 and ZFX. Now i'm going out to find some nice large 100% AMERICAN made towels to wipe my "baby" down with. Since I only have 1 coat of Meguires Gold Class on my truck it will be easy to remove it with a good "dawn" washing. I can't wait to apply 5 coats and go swimming in the shine!

Palumbon pretty much covered it. I did not use ZFX as I applied the Zaino during the summer when it was 80 degrees outside so I did not need to speed up the drying time.

Good luck and show us some pics when you get it done!

My sig pic is a little old as I only had 3 coats on at that time. I'm up to about 7 now and you can really see the difference with each coat you apply.

yup, they pretty much got it, just wanted to add a few things 1st

-its not a wax
-too bad i didn't see this earlier, their z16 tire shine is some of the best stuff out there
-with the zfx, you can put up to 3 coats on in a 24 hour period, but no more because it needs time to cure enough before applying more

Then after you wait for the Z5 to set and wipe off apply the Z6 again then wait a couple of hours and repeat the Z6, Z5, Z6 step till all the fine scratches and swirls are gone. The the last step is Z6, Z2, Z6 and your down for 4 months.
Just wanted to add something. for the innitial process, they don't recommend using z6 before the first innitial coat of zaino. alot of guys do though, i didn't, not sure if it'll make a difference, but the zaino site didn't say to do it, so i didn't. that part doesn't really matter and won't make a difference if you do or don't.
also, if you are doing 3 coats in a day, you don't have to z6,z5, z6 and then for the next coat z6,z5,z6, and for the final coat z6,z2,z6. no need to z6 twice right in a row unless you are waiting a day or so to finish the process
you can simply z6,z5,z6,z5,z6,z2,z6. Just saves on the unneeded z6ing because you'll probably find you go through the z6 more than anything just cuz its so easy to keep the truck clean with it if you z6 every three days or so after dusting the truck as long as its not too dirty or has rained. During the summer i can go 3 weeks without washing the truck with cali dusting every day and z6 every 3 days as long as it doesn't rain

happy zainoing!

If you don'y mind paying a a buck or two more, you can order it online at http://www.ecklers.com/

My second order I put in I went through this guys. The first order was through Roz at The Gloss Boss. They don't accept online orders, but they do accept credit cards over the phone. Their prices are the same as the Zaino site.

Zaino ROCKS!!

Perma-Plate... don't spend your money on it. It's basically an expensive thorough detail job. You can probably do a much better job than what they will do.

A supposedly "paint enhancer" that is supposed to keep the shine and gloss.
A supposedly leather and vinyl protectant.
A supposedly "warranty for any fade or discoloration"

You'll get a small kit of supposedly "paint cleaner", "sparkling shine wash", a wash mit, a few other cleaning supplies.

I did weekend jobs with a friend of mine, who owns a carwash and a authorized specialist for Perma-Plate.

Yep, what ChesterC said. Do not waste your money. My dad retired from Ford as a service tech and told me what the detail guys do. Essentially they wax the car, spray the interior with Scotchguard and give the customer a certificate with a so-called warranty.

Invest in the Zaino instead.

Thumbs up Thx so much

Hey, I just want to thank all you guys for the responses to this and all my other posts. It is a pleasure being a part of the board. The info pool here is very deep. Just thought i'd let you all know how much I do appreciate it. For those of you who care, I'd like to share a bit of personal info. Last year I had a stroke in my sleep. I woke up a week + later in the hospital. To this day, they don't know what caused it. It HAS affected my memory and I DO thank you all for bearing with me if I ask too many questions. Again, thx.

1JT,
I'll have to look up his email address when I get home today. I tried his website but it doesn't seem to be functioning. He is from San Jose and accepts PayPal so it is pretty convenient.

TexFordd, that neighbor has one of each, a Dodge, Ford, and Chevy. Guess he has all bases covered.

hey fepony, i saw you post this in another thread

i for one need a new tailgate. (got a ding in it first hour i had it, at rest area on the way home from dealer from a rock kicked up by a mower)
is the paint chipped? if not you can just get PDR (paintless dent removal) they work the dent out from the inside of the panel. i had a 1/2" door ding on my passenger door, and 70 bucks and 5 minutes later the guy had it out and it was perfect! you'd never know anything ever happened there. just a cheaper alternative to a while new tailgate

This is basicly what happened to me. The dealer "insisted" that I have the truck Perma Plated for $400.00 or $450.00(I forget the exact amount). Stillfly02HD if you are ever in the Vallejo area, let me know and I will give you one unopened bottle of Paintguard Renewer and one bottle of Leatherguard Renewer, both unopened from 8/25/00. That's how much I think of Perma Plate.
