Lightbulb HD Brothers Unite!

If you have noticed lately, we are really starting to pick up a large number of new members. One thing that I envy about the L clan are their clubs, and the meets that they have periodically. It would be great if we (L and HD owners) could meet together and discuss our Love of the SC 5.4, but I don't think we could get a consensus amongst L owners. I have met some great L owners in the NC and SC area, and I don't think they mind having me around. Heck, the president of the NLOC (Dwight) allowed me to join the club in Charlotte last weekend, but it would really be nice to try and group the HD owners together for an event every now and then. When I was at the L meet in Charlotte, it was a heck of a sight to see 12 L's nose to tail going down S Blvd. 12 doesn't sound like a lot, but it looked awesome. More importantly, the time spent together discussing the trucks was priceless.

If any of you have attempted to form a group/chapter in your area, could you please chime in and tell us what you have done to help promote the comradery. I know that most of us on this board are from different areas of the U.S., but it would sure be nice if we could get together every now and then.

Hopefully I'm not the only one that feels this way, and this post will get some attention.

Ron

it might bit a bit of a drive for you outnumbered from NC, but like you said, it would only be a few times a year so it might be worth it, i want to make the mikes famous meet like we had back in october a yearly thing every fall. last year we had 7 guys with HD's show up (mostly 02's) and that isn't a bad # to start out with for a 1st meet. hopefully next year we can rally together some more people and fill their parking lot. as it stands now they are like the largest HD dealer in the world or something like that, and they are expanding over this winter to make the showroom even bigger. Sue from JL was going to bring her 02HD, but the meet was scheduled kind of last minute, so they couldn't make it

and then to satisfy you drag racers, since we just meet for a free lunch at mikes famous, i would like to organize something for in the spring. Meet somewhere's for lunch, once everybody is there, then everybody cruise out to a local drag strip, and anybody that wants to race can, and everybody else can just watch or just chill and help out in the pits.
crocket said something about meeting at a hooters, and then heading to cecil drag track, which would be closer for you NC guys and all that, but then it might be a little to far from all the NY guys that said they wanted to come to the next meet.
we still have time to pick a final destination and all that, but if everybody's interested, i'll try to organize a spring HDFOG meet up. i'd love to do the cruise thing and then the track even though i'm not gonna race my truck. By then hopefully cobrasvt's truck will be ready, and JL will bring their HD
I'd love to get a cruise together though, that 21 lightning salute video that was posted a few weeks ago in the L board was friggin awsome!

we can start working on a rough date if you are interested in helping me out with this, and then pick a location (cecil closer for you SC/NC/VA/MD guys, but Etown closer for the NY/MA/n.NJ guys, so Atco may be the middle of the road for everybody?)
but we can work out the details later

just let me know. everybody who came to the HD meet at mikes thought i did a pretty good job. We all got free lunch and a 10% discount in their store, and might be featured in FTW mag

*edit* o yeah, i know you are probably wanting to make a more localized meet or group, so you could get together more often without it being a major thing to organize, but it would still be cool to have a big meet with guys from all the way up in MA and NY all the way down to NC and SC, know what i mean?

Harley #356 your idea sounds very good. I do not know how many Georgia HD owners would make such a trip. I know I would as I am originally from your area. I could attend the meet and visit relatives at the same time! Does anyone know the Ford Fun Weekend schedule for '03 and is that a possible meeting place?

The last two years its been in June. They send me a invitation each year. I have e-mailed them already to see if they have a date for 2003, no response yet. The met starts at Channel Island National Guard base, then a police escorted drive on HWY 1 to the VA hosp. Followed by food , live music and top name entertainers. The also have a show. Davenders won 1st place last year. When I get the invite I will post it on this site. And Yes Josh I will pick up some goodies for you

here is a link to some pic's from last years event

Josh... If you REALLY want to go to that show let me know. I'll buy you a round trip ticket with my miles. Let me know from where/to and what times and I will look into it fer ya. Seriously...

I get a lot of miles for travelling. I have 3 or 4 hundred thousand. Should only set me back 50K miles or so.

Ken

Lightbulb

How about tieing a already established meet together with a yearly HD truck meet like Daytona or Myrtle Beach bike week.

Families could make plans and arrangments ahead.

Get local Ford and HD bike dealers to sponser shows and ect.

A organized national event like that would be worth a 1000 mile trip for a great vacation and a world class HD show.

What do you think???
