Talking Wife thinks I'm crazy

While waiting for the paint to dry on my calipers, I washed and waxed the 'back' of my rims. Believe it or not, once mounted you can notice a difference.

whats so weird about that? every time i wash the truck i use a little tiny sponge and clean the inside of the rims. its a squeeze to get my hand in there, but thats like 9" of chrome that could be blinging rather than hidden under brake dust
i also polish them every time i zaino the truck, and whenever i rotate the tires i pull the rims and give them an extra good coat of zaino, and also pull them about every month in the summer before shows to detail the suspension and back of rims

although look who's typing this message
if your wife thinks your crazy, tell her to read my message and be like "you're lucky i'm not like this guy"
I put my truck up on jack stands every spring and detail the complete bottom of the truck by hand (10+ hours)
I'm always washing/zainoing/detailing the interior, i zaino the bed every time, and even the door sills and bottom of the hood and back of nurfbars and rims.

i wash the suspension, and this one probably puts me over the top...when i got my L tails, i took an extra half hour or so to wash the taillight housings while the lights were out, dried them off, and gave them a coat of zaino before i put the lights back in. LoL!

heck, i even take off the spare every now and then to wash it and give it a coat of zaino and some tire shine and put it back under the truck. LoL! it gets dirty under there fast!

dirty taillight housings

washed, zainoed, and buffed taillight housings before i put the L tails in

oh, i've got it baaaaaad! LoL!

Getting smarter in my old age

I wasn't smart enough to take the wheels off to clean the back. I've got the scars on my knuckles from cleaning the rims, but it's well worth it.

I did smarten up a bit for Xmas and asked for a 3 1/2 ton floor jack, so maybe I'll take them off in the future for cleaning, though the backs get cleaned everytime I wash the truck. My knuckles will be begging me to take them off next time.

Now I've got an excuse to finally paint my calipers and the ends of the rotors to get rid of the rust.

Ahhh.... a support group for my habit. Glad to know I'm not the only around here. Harley #356 does have me beat though, I'd never detail the bottom of my truck.

Josh,
Do you plan on ever getting a 20" spare to complete the set. Also you should get in touch with Zaino and see if they will sponsor you or something so you can get free wax and stuff.

I've thought about it, and maybe eventually i'll do a group buy on a set off ebay, but for now, i've got alot of other things i want to get 1st, that make a bigger impact and are more bang for my buck, like smoothed and painted sidesteps that are being worked on now
Plus, another reason why i havent besides it being expensive, is that its easy to steal, and the spare mounts to the truck with the wheel front facing up towards the truck bed, so you'd only see the back of the rim if i put mirrors down at a show, and did you see those 4 sets of grooves in that pic of my spare i posted from where it touches the frame? that would probably be rubbing the chrome lip on the HD rim and do some pretty damage on a HD rim

Also you should get in touch with Zaino and see if they will sponsor you or something so you can get free wax and stuff.
i'm thinking about becoming a vendor for them. not sure yet, i emailed them about it before and they said they were redoing something about their setup, and to email them back in like 2 months. is should probably drop them a line again. i mean i go to enough shows in the summer that i could sell it. i get people asking me all the time what i use. plus that would just give me more excuses to detail my truck and go to more shows LoL!

i don't own my truck, my truck owns me!

Details make or break a truck when you're working on 'looks'. If you take the time and pay attention to 'details', you're vehicle, no matter what it is, will look better...

That's always been the way I approach cleaning my truck... and yes, my wife thinks I'm crazy too. LOL!
