ammo is cheap... lol. my favs are .223 and 38 spcl. JHP

regardless of which unit you get, make sure you get a good quality digital tilt sensor that can sense tilt. If the truck is jacked up to steal the rims, it will set it off.

Also, when they install the alarm, make sure the wires/siren are as inaccessable as possible. If the theif can find the wires, all they have to do is cut them going to the alarm siren and there is no more alarm...

I agree with ken800, check the Viper brand of alarms it gets pricey once you add the remote start. But with just basic alarm it will be fairly inexpensive. Make sure you get a backup battery for the alarm so in case they cut power wires to the siren, it still goes on.

A low tech approach is a hood chain lock, granted they steal the rims(OEM equipment - can be replaced without any questions), they will have a very hard time trying to cut the wire for the alarm or try to start the engine since the hood will only open less than 4 inches.

I got the factory ford alarm with shock sensor. That way it's designed for the truck and is covered by truck warranty. There are better ones but as said before, if they want it, they WILL get it regardless.

a few guys at the other site have an audiovox and they seem pretty nice. i don't know much about alarms, but it seemed like a good one.
its got the little remote with a pic of a car on it and little led's, and if the alarm goes off, the part of the car that was tampered with will light up on the remote so you can see.
wasn't that expensive either
maybe start a post over there for it if you need more info

I had the viper model 790xv installed with the lcd dispaly and remote start. It works great. Love the 1/4 mile distance for remote start plus it transmits back to you to tell you it received the signal. I have a cheapie in my excursion and the distance is very limited, plus you never know if it received the signal because it does not transmit back to you.

As with anything, you get what you pay for.

What are the price ranges for these systems? I am assuming 'with install' because I would not know where to begin installing an alarm (and the electrical system is not something I would like to screw up)

i have a fuel shutoff switch. if i dont want the truck to move i flip the hidden switch.

but with a harley i can see the need for motion sensor, since your wheels are worth more than some houses. lol

i got a how to if you want

it did but that only kicks in when the ABS trrigger is sensored. i spliced a wire and put a switch in so that the curcuit to the fuel pump can be cut off. no power to fuel pump = dead car.

i cant find the project i did but here are some links to rough how-tos on what i did.......

http://www.fordtruckworld.com/mygall...bum=8209&pos=2

there are like 3 pictures on that one.

http://www.fordcustoms.com/techartic...elcutoff.shtml

there is another one with more pictures but they dont blow up. jujst remember, pink wire with black stripe.

any questions just drop me a line
