that was me. i made a post just asking what everybody thought. like i said in that other post, i don't care what everybody thought, and it wouldn't make me change my mind at all in what mods i did, i was just curious as to what everybody thought about the mod, just to see.

Hey, Josh...

seriously, I think neon is cool. you and your truck are a class act and your install is a 0 on a 1-10 scale rice-o-meter as far as I am concerned. You are one of the FEW who take unbelievable care of your truck and it shows. I am not aware of anyone else that does the show circuit like you do, either. It is great for shows or any gathering when the truck is parked and you want to draw attention.

Bottom line: Good job and screw anyone that doesn't like it.

Ken

Yeah, I know I voted against the deal in you other thread. I guess after seeing it on your truck I realized it wasn't the neon that made me think it was gay, it was the POS cars and trucks that I normally see it on.
Around here, it's always some kid with a low budget Honda, or a ...uhh.. mmm...hispanic or african american fellow in a 4 door 82 Cutlass. You know the type, POS ride with a "look at me" attitude.

Although the pics didn't do it much justice, I have to admit seeing on your truck changes my vote...

got the switch wired today, but not mounted. i had to make a custom plate to mount the 3 switches on under the dash so its more organized (fogs, neon, hood neon), and the plate is drying right now, jsut finished painting it.

got my coolflex hose installed today too. i'll post pics in a few

and now that i think about it, i should have gotten orange o well. lol

wired up the switch yesterday (what a PITA to find a way to run them to the engine compartment from the interior! i couldn't find any place to run through the firewall so i ended up going behind the plastic kick plate on the driversside, behind the weather strip and through the inner door jamb to the inside of the fender into the engine compartment and across the firewall to the transformer and battery, can't see the wires, but it was a royal PITA to run them that way)

and since i already had a switch for my foglight mod, rather than having a switch here for this, and a switch there for that, i made a custom switch panel under the dash out of my trusty ol' erector set.LoL. Used about a 2" x 3" yellow plate and painted it black and drilled the holes for the switches, and it bolted right up to that little metal plate above the emergency brake pedal

can't see it unless you are down low, and its out of the way of your feet when you get in there. can't see em, but they are right in reach when you are in the truck

(left to right...1. neon, 2. ram air hood neon (not hooked up yet) 3. foglight mod

and i have them wired so down is on, so if your foot would happen to hit them it turns off just to be safe

can't see em when you're standing up

Josh,
I don't care for the neon lights, but I give you for the time, effort and care you put into the install.

Looks good josh, no critisism here.

My opinion on the whole 'ricer' thing is when something is done so over the top it is tacky, and usually it is done with poor quality. For example: Many multicolored neons, strobing interior lights, 3 foot tall - 3 layered spoilers.

I don't think someone should be limited on their mods because some of the other car people out there have overdone them.

Harley356, they look good. Had the same thing done on my Disco. Rice or not I think it looks good, and makes the vehical stand out even more. You put alot of time and effort in and it shows.
