SEMA Show News - Lowered is out
SEMA Show News - Lowered is out
Figured I would get everybody's attention. Actually, that is the word at SEMA this year. The lowered trucks are becoming old and passe. The "new" trend is moving to lifted 4X4's. I did that in the 70's with a F250 4X4 that had 44 inchers and the rocker panel was mid-chest high.
I guess it is like clothing...who would have thought that bell bottoms and hip-huggers would ever make a come back!!!!
SEMA is usually a year or so ahead of any new "fads" so it would not surprise me to see lowered vehicles (they were talking trucks and SUV's - not cars) become "uncool" in the future.
There are a couple of 4X4 accessory shops near me and they are lifting a lot of new trucks. Here in Florida there are no height laws(at least as far as I know), so you can jack 'em up as high as you want.
Y'all have a Merry Christmas!!!! Hope Santa brings you some great presents!!!!!

Trends are just that, trends. They are not laws or rules written in stone saying this is the cool thing to do if you do not have this you are wrong. I think your truck is an extension of yourself and your personality. When I am in my HD I feel different then when I am driving my Disco or my Dad's 'Lade. The vehicles are like different outfits. Outfits can date a person. White leisure suit and butterfly collars are a 70's look, and parachute pants and b.u.m. sweatshirts are 90's. But jeans and a t-shirt are classics and wiil always look cool and could be any decade. In the same way I think our trucks have that classic look that just works, like a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
lowered vehicles will always being in style for the older guys...i always liked the lowered look...the lifted look does look nice too...but for me its noway...bad knees...
for me going from the 4x4 supercrew to the harley was a blessing ...not to mention a kick in the a$$

Soooooo Whaaaatttt!!! I never followed trends anyway. Do you want to be a leader or follower!
When I'm driving my HD with my foot in the floor just about everyone else is following me anyway
Put up or shut up....that's what I say!!

Seen many "trends" come and go in my time. Now I do what I like and if no one else likes it , their right.

nice one bill!anyway, there have always been alot of lifted vehicles out there, and alot of lowered ones. They say the trend will start to be lifted vehicles next. Well of course all the saps that have to be in with the new trends are gonna start to lift their vehilces and you'll see more lifted trucks and all. They just created their own trend there by advertising it on tv shows and at sema and all. I guess the companies that make lifts and all have sales down a bit, so they are trying to say big is in for next year, so you better get iwth the trend now and lift your truck or you'll be out of style, and then they'll get a bunch of suckers to buy their stuff just cuz that and boost their sales again.

I don't think we'll ever see a day when lowered trucks are out of style. Lowered trucks are awsome, and lifted trucks are awsome! Just cuz a company says lowered is going out of style doesn't mean jack.
If anything, my HD is gonna go lower sometime soon hopefully. LoL.
but don't get me wrong, lifted trucks are pretty cool too. I'd love to have a lifted crew cab, dually F350
LoL!
You nailed it HD356! Need to sell some more lift kits so we better market the new trend.
I also like lifted trucks and have had a couple in my lifetime. Though they look nice, 99.999% of them have never seen offroad so it seems like a waste to me.
I also don't care for those trucks that are too low either but then I'm an old fart.
I'll stick with what I got and like I said before, I really don't give a ***** if it is in style or not.

Yup. it only means one thing really. The Lifted trend is slowly going out of style now, and they need to boost the market again by saying lowering is out, and lifting will be next years big trend, so that they can make more money. How would they know what trend will be next year's big thing. I'm sure they'd do the same thing if the situation was reversed.
Lifted or lowered, its still awsome. I don't think there will really be a time when either one or the other is considered out of style and outdated
a lifted HD though....thats like against the law or something

I think y'all are taking this way to personal. I can assure you lowered trucks will never be out of style. They have been around forever, and won't go away any time soon.
As trends go though, lifted trucks (2 & 4wd) are in style, and the trend is growing. This goes right along with the big inch wheel trend too.
It wasn't too long ago people were lowering the family SUV, and running 17's. Now the "trend" is to run 20's, 22's or bigger, and not lower them.
Both of these styles are trends. Just because lifted trucks are the "trend", doesn't mean lowered trucks are "out"...

Does that mean the lifted Harley we saw on here was ahead of the SEMA trends
then don't expect this trend to last long cuz i'm pretty sure they ended up taking the lift kit off that HD cuz they couldn't sell the ruined POS
