Question whats the difference?

I have a question, as I prepare for mod season to begin on my truck... whats the diff between a regular air intake system like a Airaid and a cold air kit like a Volant? Im still trying to determine what mods and when I can....along with how much and how soon...

i'm pretty sure that the airaid is just an open element filter, and the volant has a box so it only gets air from outside the engine bay. although, i haven't heard too many good things about the volant kit for the s/c engines.

if i were you i'd get JL's ram air intake system. or even wtihout the ramair, just get the filter and cold air box and all that. its one of the nicest setups i've seen yet for the s/c truck

I think that when I do my air mods it will be with Pauls High Performance Kit. $200

they are a little on the high side over there

80 bucks for a set of shackles?

and for their filter kit, 200 bucks for just a filter kit, and just for instance, JL has the filter kit AND a cold air box for 15 bucks less and in 2 color choices. and it looks like JL's moves more air with the open end of the filter, and not capped off like the K&N is.

just tryin to help ya out. it pays to shop around

Or you can get a ram-air from JLP!

Increase boost and get cold air at the same time. Yeah!

yeah, thats why i'm saying spend the 200 180 bucks and get the huge JL filter with the cold air box, and then you can spend like 20 bucks and make your own ram air, all for the price of just that filter from Pauls performance.

or spend like 50 bucks and get a K&N drop in filter, and cut the bottom of your stock airbox out and run some tubing up to it for a factory ram air. won't get as much of an increase as the JL kit, but still big diffference over stock
