premium gas required??

Just got a new HD and was wondering if all of you use premium gas? By the gas gauge it says premium gas required.

I burn premium in my bike and my truck for the same reason. With a high compression motor, to keep from pinging (preiginition) you have to burn a gas that has a higher anti-knock value=Premium. Some think it gives you more horsepower, not necessarily true in itself, however you will gain the hp by not allowing it to knock (or ping) and more importantly, prevent major damage to your motor. Pinging is a major evil!

yup, it says right on the dash by the gas light "premium fuel only" so you are best off using it, or you're asking for trouble

You have to run at least 91 octane in the supercharged truck or else engine damage could occur. Personally i have been running 94 octane since i got the truck and have noticed better gas milage and a little extra boost.

The higher octane by theory will help the engine run more efficiently which will result in more power and better gas mileage. Will it be noticable change, maybe not right away, but it will more than likely give your engine a happier longer life.
