Unhappy No Pics!

Sorry man I still haven't got ahold of a digital camera. But I did get my $195 worth of Zaino in yesterday! Maybe when I get the truck Zainoed I will have a good enough reason to bum a digital camera for a day or two! Oh yeah I got a Kenwood 659 CD player from my girlfriend for Christmas too! The Zaino came from my mom!

my order was like 120 for the z2, z5, zfx, z6, z7, z18, z16, z12, and then i got a cotton wash mit and some towells. but it was worth every penny!

Josh,
As you know I have the Hotchkis kit. You can steal any photos you need.

thank ayrton what size drop is the hotchkis kit anyhow? Looks maybe like a 2/3? (3/3kit?) is the rear done with shackels and hangers on that setup? or are new leafs involved?

thanks!

The full Hotchkis kit consist of front coils, rear leaf springs and front/rear anti sway bars. The shackles and hangers are stock. I am considering going with an additional 1’ drop, but only if I can do it correctly.

Hotchkis suspension is really more for handling, than just lowering. I would not recommend this kit for someone just looking to lower their truck.

Josh,
I have not measured my truck, and as you know it is not exactly accessible at the moment. However, I do know that this kit lowers the Lightning about 1.25 – 1.5’ in the front, and 2’ in the rear. So I would think that would be the same for the HD.

hmm, aight, i guess though since it replaces both the front and rear springs, it would make sense that its pretty much a 1/2 drop on a HD. thanks for the help

Josh,
I have a DJM 2/4 kit on mine. 2" spring in front, and shackle/hanger in the rear. We had to move the shackle up a notch, to get a true 4" in the rear.
Unfortunetly, I don't have any good side shots. Let my try to get some today...

thanks N2TRUX. i have a question though, what do you mean you had to move the shackle up? it was lower than 4" in the back then before?
and by the 2/4 kit, do you mean actual 2" lowering springs for up front on a regular f150? or 2" lowering springs for a lightning? cuz if it was just 2" lowering springs, it would only get 1" on a HD. unless you mean you got 2" out of it and it was a 3" drop spring.

this gets so confusing

harley #356, my harley is supposedly lowered 2/4. eibach (lightning/harley) springs up front and hanger/shackles with an overload leaf (aprox 5/8" thick) in the rear. up front, i am 29 3/8" from the bottom of the fender to the ground and 30 1/8" in the rear. does that equate out to a 2/4" drop on a harley?

not sure. my measurements were a little different, cuz teh 00's don't have the fenderflares, so the wheel well looks a little bigger and makes the measurement bigger
i believe stock i was 33 and 35 front and back. after the 2" rear drop i was 33 and 33 1/4

thats the biggest reason i wanted to get a set for my truck cuz it makes it look like its lowered more than it really is. when cobrasvt1 was at Etown with his 02, i thought he lowered it 1" up front and 3" in the back, but he only had a 2" rear drop, which is the same as i have, but his looked alot cooler with the smaller wheel gap
and it takes alot of drilling to install those fender flares, and thats a big no no

OK, let me try to make this simple. Actually I have a 1/3 drop.
The DJM drop is not Harley/Lightning specific. The front springs are 2" that should net a drop of 1" over stock, but as you can see it's closer to 2".
In the rear, the shackle had to be raised up one hole to give a 3" drop, with a net of 4" including the HD leaf.
Since your taking notes, the rest of the drop includes a 6 degree shim, and really short bump stops.
Heres the best pic I have...
